A convenient method of tandem copper and palladium catalyzed coupling-cyclizing reactions was developed for the preparation of diarylaminofluorenes, I, II(R1 = H, Me, R2 = H, Me) . Methylbromotriphenylamines prepared by the copper-catalyzed reaction of substituted iodobenzenes and methylbromoanilines, coupled with chlorophenylboronic acid under palladium catalyst to obtain the chlorophenylmethyltriphenylamines (V). A series of diarylaminofluorenes could be generated in good yields through palladium-catalyzed activation of benzylic C(sp3)-H bond of compound V. It was found that the 2-diarylaminofluorenes or 3-diarylaminofluorenes could be efficiently gotten. These compounds were characterized by1H NMR, 13C NMR, HRMS, IR and UV-vis.

The functionality of interfaces in hybrid inorganic/organic (opto)electronic devices is determined by the alignment of the resp. frontier energy levels at both sides of the heterojunctions. Controlling the interface electronic landscape is a key element for achieving favorable level alignment for energy and charge transfer processes. Here, it is shown that the electronic properties of polar ZnO surfaces can be reversibly modified using organic photochromic switches. By employing a range of surface characterization techniques combined with d. functional theory calculations, it is demonstrated that self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of photochromic phosphonic acid diarylethenes (PA-DAEs) can be employed to reversibly change the electronic properties of polar ZnO/SAM structures by light stimuli. The HOMO level of PA-DAE is raised by 0.7 eV and the lowest unoccupied one lowered by 0.9 eV, resp., upon illumination by UV light and the levels shift back to their original position upon illumination by green light. The results thus provide a pathway to tailor hybrid interface electronic properties in a dynamic manner upon simple light illumination, which can be exploited to reversibly tune the elec. properties of photoswitchable (opto)electronic devices.

Flash point (FP) is the primary property to classify flammable liquids to assess their fire and explosion hazards. Due to technol. advancement in discovering or synthesizing new compounds, there is often a significant gap between the demand for such data and their availability. Reliable methods to estimate the FP of a compound are indispensable. This work used a quant. structure property relationship study to predict the FP of organosilicon compounds To establish and validate proposed models, a dataset of 230 organosilicon compounds was collected and divided into a training set of 184 compounds and a testing set of 46 compounds A step-wise regression method selected the required mol. descriptors to predict organosilicon compound FP from 1538 mol. descriptors. Depending on the p-value to accept a descriptor to enter the model, models with different number of descriptors were obtained. Thus, 13- and 6-descriptor models were obtained with resp. p-values of 5 × 10-4 and 1 × 10-5. The 6-descriptor model fit the training data with R2 = 0.8981; it predicted test data with Q2 = 0.8533. The 13-descriptor model fit the training data with R2 = 0.9293; it predicted test data with Q2 = 0.9245. Average predictive errors were <5% for both proposed models and they are useful for many practical applications since they used only mol. structure-based calculated descriptors.

E.g., in presence of TBAI, Cu(OAc)2, Ag2O, and S8, reaction of benzamide substrate (I) gave 89% benzoisothiazolone derivative (II). The direct diversification of the benzoisothiazolone products into a variety of sulfur-containing compounds is also demonstrated.

Cardiovascular agents are among the most frequently prescribed pharmaceuticals worldwide. They are widely detected in aquatic ecosystems, while their ecotoxicol. implications are rarely explored. Here, by the use of a new developed high-throughput zebrafish embryo screening approach, we systematically assessed the cardiovascular disruptive effects of 32 commonly used cardiovascular agents at environmental relevant concentrations and above (0.04, 0.2 and 1 μM). Multiple endpoints, including cardiac output, heart rate and blood flow, were quantified via customized video anal. approaches. Among the 32 agents, simvastatin and lovastatin exhibited the strongest toxicities to fish embryos, and the LDs were observed at 0.2 μM and 1 μM. Beta-blockers such as atenolol and metoprolol significantly decreased heart rates by up to 15% and 12% and increased blood flows by up to 14% and 14%, resp., at concentrations as low as 0.04 μM. Several hypertension/hyperlipidemia medications such as pravastatin and enalapril led to significant inhibition of heart rates (up to 14% and 16% decreases, resp.) as well as slightly decreases of the cardiac outputs and blood flows. In addition, a tentative risk assessment clearly demonstrated that some compounds such as atenolol, metoprolol and bezafibrate pose considerable risks to aquatic organisms at environmental or slightly higher than surface water concentrations Our results provided novel insights into understanding of the potential risks of cardiovascular agents and contributed to their environmental hazard ranking.
