Objective. Ischemia-reperfusion injury refers to the exacerbated and irreversible tissue damage caused by blood flow restoration after a period of ischemia. The hypoxia-reoxygenation (H/R) model in vitro is ideal for studying ischemia-reperfusion injury at the cellular level. We employed this model and investigated the effects of cobalt chloride- (CoCl2-) induced H/R in cells derived from mouse digital flexor tendons. Materials and Methods. Various H/R conditions were simulated via treatment of tendon-derived cells with different concentrations of CoCl2 for 24 h, followed by removal of CoCl2 to restore a normal oxygen state for up to 96 h. Cell viability was measured using the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. Cell growth was determined via observation of cell morphology and proliferation. Oxidative stress markers and mitochondrial activity were detected. The expression levels of hypoxia-inducible factor- (HIF-) 1 alpha, vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A), collagen I, and collagen III were determined using Western blot (WB), real-time PCR, and immunofluorescence staining. Cellular apoptosis was analyzed via flow cytometry, and the expression of apoptosis-related proteins Bax and bcl-2 was examined using WB. Results. The cells treated with low concentrations of CoCl2 showed significantly increased cell viability after reoxygenation. The increase in cell viability was even more pronounced in cells that had been treated with high concentrations of CoCl2. Under H/R conditions, cell morphology and growth were unchanged, while oxidative stress reaction was induced and mitochondrial activity was increased. H/R exerted opposite effects on the expression of HIF-1 alpha mRNA and protein. Meanwhile, the expression of VEGF-A was upregulated, whereas collagen type I and type III were significantly downregulated. The level of cellular apoptosis did not show significant changes during H/R, despite the significantly increased Bax protein and reduced bcl-2 protein levels that led to an increase in the Bax/bcl-2 ratio during reoxygenation. Conclusions. Tendon-derived cells were highly tolerant to the hypoxic environments induced by CoCl2. Reoxygenation after hypoxia preconditioning promoted cell viability, especially in cells treated with high concentrations of CoCl2. H/R conditions caused oxidative stress responses but did not affect cell growth. The H/R process had a notable impact on collagen production and expression of apoptosis-related proteins by tendon-derived cells, while the level of cellular apoptosis remained unchanged.

Under the same conditions, the optimized device doped with SOCl2 achieves a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 20.76%, while the pristine one is only 18.13%. The doping of SOCl2 not only reduces the density of defect states at the interface between perovskite and HTL, but also suppresses the recombination of light-induced carriers. In addition, the stability of the PSCs based on SOCl2 is greatly improved, which can maintain 90% of the initial PCE for 31 days under ambient conditions. The Yamuna river has become one of the most polluted rivers in India as well as in the world because of the high-density population growth and speedy industrialization. In this study, the resistivity of coral aggregate concrete is measured using an improved alternating-current test method, and the improved method overcomes the limitations that is prone to polarization reaction and heating of the solution under exposure to voltage for an extended period. Porosity was used to analyze the reasons for the different resistivity values of coral concrete from micro-aspects. The resistivity model at 365 days was established considering the effects of temperature, humidity, admixture, and water-binder ratio on coral aggregate concrete. Objectives: The combination therapy of phenothrin (PHT) and ivermectin (PI regimen) was effective for pyrethroid-resistant head lice in Okinawa; however, further investigations have been required to improve the regimen. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of the modified PI (mPI) regimen, which increased the maximum number of PHT treatments in the PI regimen by one, in Tsukuba, which has a low mutation rate compared to Okinawa. Methods: An open-label, uncontrolled, exploratory study was conducted at the Department of Dermatology, University of Tsukuba Hospital to investigate the treatment effect of mPI regimen. Genotypes were investigated for the knockdown (kdr) mutations at voltage-sensitive sodium channel (VSSC) and glutamate-gated chloride receptor-encoding loci to identify their correlation with drug resistance. Results: All the 8 patients treated with the mPI regimen resulted in lice free on day 29. Compared to baseline, the number of bodies, eggs, and itching grade significantly decreased on day 29. Mild erythema appeared after the second application of PHT on day 8 in one patient, persisted for 2 days, and recovered on day 15. No other adverse events were reported. Mutation rates were more than double in head lice collected from one patient for whom PHT was ineffective compared to those in lice from patients who responded to PHT. Furthermore, we identified four new haplotypes of VSSC loci in head lice. Conclusions: The mPI regimen is a potential effective treatment for economically combating both PHT-sensitive and resistant head lice.

Developing one-step modification strategy for highly efficient metal-free g-C3N4 photocatalyst has always been challenging and yet demanding. In this study, we have demonstrated an in-situ low-temperature production of porous S-doped g-C3N4 nanosheets, using ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) as a gaseous-bubble template (GBT) to boost the visible-light photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutant dyes. The photocatalytic activities of GBT-induced porous S-doped g-C3N4 nanosheets (so-called p-SCN-x, x = mass ratio of NH4Cl/thiourea) were examined towards the degradation of Rhodamine B (Rh.B) under visible light. Importantly, both surface area and photocatalytic activities of the p-SCN-xsample were optimized by adjusting the mass fraction of thiourea/NH4Cl. The optimized p-SCN-2 exhibited a maximum photocatalytic degradation of 97.50%, which is 7.75-fold higher than that of GBT-free analogue (so-called bulk SCN-O). Moreover, the p-SCN-2 was tested for colorless tetracycline hydrochloride as an emerging pollutant, demonstrating 87% degradation under visible light irradiation. The enhanced performance of p-SCN-2photocatalyst was mainly attributed to an improved surface area, boosted light-harvesting range, and efficient electron-hole separation, and facilitated transfer of charge carriers by dyesensitization mechanism. Moreover, the scavengers quenching study proved that the superoxide anion (O-center dot(2)-) radicals and holes (h(+)) were the leading active sorts. This study aimed to predict the pitting corrosion characteristics of AL-6XN super-austenitic steel using multiple linear regression. For 10 weeks, the fish were hand-fed the experimental diets to apparent satiation twice daily. The results showed that the final BW, weight gain and specific growth rate were significantly lower, while the feed conversion ratio was higher in the SBMD and ESBM + EsD groups than in the ESBMD and FMD groups (p < 0.05). Fish fed SBMD and ESBM + EsD showed accelerated gastric transit, slowed intestinal mobility, and lowered secretions of BAs and pancreatic digestive enzymes as compared to those fed ESBMD and FMD. Morphological abnormalities in mucosal folds of the posterior intestine, but not the liver, were clearly observed in the SBMD and ESBM + EsD groups. These results indicated that the Es in SBM inhibited the digestive system, leading to decreased nutrient digestibility and growth performance in pompano. The findings of the present study suggested that removal of the Es would effectively improve the nutritional quality of SBM and enhance growth performance of pompano fed a SBM-based diet. Compared with ordinary concrete, nanotitania concrete has better resistance to chloride diffusion.
