Background The side reactions of dehalogenation or C-N coupling tend to occur when halogenated aromatic amines are prepared by catalytic hydrogenation reduction of halogenated aromatic nitro compounds. In this paper, we prepared the sub-microspherical Fe3O4@PDA-Pd NPs catalyst apply it efficiently in the hydrogenation reduction of halogenated aromatic nitro compounds to prepare the halogenated aromatic amines under atmospheric pressure. The catalyst shows a high selectivity of greater than 96% and can effectively inhibit the occurrence of the side reactions of dehalogenation and C-N coupling. Results The optimum condition of the hydroreduction reaction is when tetrahydrofuran is used as solvent and the reaction happens at 50 degrees C for 5 h. The selectivity of the chlorinated aromatic amine and the fluorinated aromatic amine products exceed 99% and the yield exceeds 90%. Only a small amount of dehalogenated products and C-N coupling by-products were produced in the brominated aromatic compound and the iodinated aromatic compound. Conclusion We developed a promising method for preparing the superparamagnetic and strongly magnetic Fe3O4@PDA core-shell sub-microsphere-supported nano-palladium catalyst for catalyzing the hydrogenation reduction of halogenated aromatic nitro compounds. The halogenated aromatic amines were efficiently and highly selectively prepared under atmospheric pressure, with the side reactions of dehalogenation and C-N coupling effectively inhabited simultaneously.

Hangzhou, one the most prosperous cities in China, suffers from severe atmospheric quality degradation in recent years. For the good of nine million local citizens and incoming Asian Games, Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) and Random Forest are used to analyze the air pollution in Hangzhou. Compared with the traditional atmospheric models, machine learning models are faster, more accurate and less costly in simulating all the pollutants without using the pollution inventory. The Feature Importance (Fl) generated by Random Forest reveals the complicated relationships among air pollutants and meteorology. Carbon monoxide (CO) plays an important role in shaping ground-level ozone, nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matters (PM) in the atmospheric environment. Dew-point deficit plays a more important role than relative humidity in shaping air pollutants. Urban heat island effect is not obvious for the air pollutants from non-point source. Furthermore, a WRF/RNN-based method to forecast air pollutants, including SO2, NO2, CO, PM2.5, PM10 and O-3, in the future 24 h is proposed and a RNN-based method to estimate regional transport rate of air pollutants and reversely identify air pollution emission sources is introduced. At last, policy assessment is made to better regulate the air pollution in Hangzhou, prior to the 2022 Asian Games. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A magnetic nanocatalyst was purveyed as a heterogeneous recoverable palladium-based catalyst anchored on green, sustainable and phosphine free support. Resulted Fe3O4@SiO2-Phen-Pd(0) nanocatalyst bearing powerful phenanthroline ligand was thoroughly characterized by physicochemical approaches like UV-vis, FT-IR, EDX, XRD, TGA, ICP, VSM, DLS, FESEM, and TEM analyses. The transition-metal-catalyzed carboxylation of aryl and vinyl chlorides with CO2 is rarely studied, and has been achieved only with a Ni catalyst or combination of palladium and photoredox. In this work, the cobalt-catalyzed carboxylation of aryl and vinyl chlorides and bromides with CO2 has been developed. The development of Ni-catalyzed C-N cross-couplings of sulfonamides with (hetero)aryl chlorides is reported. These transformations, which were previously achievable only with Pd catalysis, are enabled by use of air-stable (L)NiCl(o-tol) pre-catalysts (L=PhPAd-DalPhos and PAd2-DalPhos), without photocatalysis. The collective scope of (pseudo)halide electrophiles (X=Cl, Br, I, OTs, and OC(O)NEt2) demonstrated herein is unprecedented for any reported catalyst system for sulfonamide C-N cross-coupling (Pd, Cu, Ni, or other). Preliminary competition experiments and relevant coordination chemistry studies are also presented.

N-Aryl-N’,N ‘-di(pyridin-2-yl)-and N-aryl-N’,N ”-bis(6-methylpyridin-2-yl) guanidines (1-4 and 5-7) were isolated in 75%-81% yields. Reactions of Pd(OAc)(2) with guanidines 2-7 carried out separately in toluene at 60 degrees C for 3 h afforded 8-13 respectively in 69%-80% yields. Compounds 1-13 were characterized by elemental analyses, HR-MS, IR and NMR (H-1 and C-13) spectroscopy. Molecular structures of guanidines 1, 4, 5 and 6 and those of 8-13 were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The Pd(II) atom in 8-10 revealed trans geometry while that in 11-13 revealed cis geometry. DFT calculations were carried out on model compounds 9a (trans) and its hypothetical cis isomer, 9b and 12a (cis) and its hypothetical trans isomer 12b which indicated a very small energy difference between the 9a/9b pair (1.28 kcal/mol) whereas a large energy difference was observed between the 12a/12b pair (26.38 kcal/mol) in CH2Cl2. The catalytic utility of 9 in Heck-Mizoroki coupling reactions involving styrene and methyl acrylate and aryl bromides/aryl chlorides in the presence of NaOAc and excess of tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) at 120 degrees C was explored. Both activated and de-activated aryl bromides and aryl chlorides were coupled with styrene and in addition, the aryl chlorides were coupled with methyl acrylate in the presence of 9 to afford the respective coupling products in 68% – > 99% yields. Neat reaction carried out with 9 and TBAB under the optimized condition released the colloidal Pd black as verified by EDAX, PXRD and SEM techniques thereby implying the heterogeneous nature of catalysis. Cancer is a leading cause of death all over the world. HGF/MET signaling pathway is involved in many cancers and its inhibition has great potential as an effective therapeutic intervention. A series of 1H-pyrrolo [2,3-b]pyridine derivatives has recently been identified with cytotoxic activity, and most of them exhibited considerable potencies with IC50 values under 10 mu M. The present study was carried out with the specific aim to shed light upon the quantitative structure activity relationship (QSAR) to design and predict the activity of new potent inhibitors using molecular fingerprints and some 2D and 3D descriptors. The built model was statistically significant in terms of R-2 = 0.90 and R-pred(2) = 0.91 values. Fingerprint PubchemFP759 (1-chloro-2-methylbenzene) was the most effective fragment in the biological activity and just appeared in the most active compound 7j with a pIC(50) value of 8.0. A similarity search study was applied based on compounds 7c and 17e, with reported inhibitory activity against c-Met kinase, which showed that also other compounds could possess similar effects against c-Met enzyme. The most promising compound 7g-cl was subjected to docking and molecular dynamics simulation. Two hydrogen bonds between Lys1110, Met1160, and 7g-cl were stable during the equilibrium time range. The suggested modifications might be considered in future studies to design more efficient anticancer agents.

A series of imidazolium-based palladate precatalysts has been synthesized and the catalytic activity of these air- and moisture-stable complexes evaluated as a function of the nature of the imidazolium counterion. Here we report a protocol to synthesize diversiform fluorinated isocryptolepine analogues with potential biological activities in one step via directed C-2 and C-3 dual C-H functionalization of indoles. We also attempted to take into account fluorinated imidoyl chlorides as a novel kind of synthons in the directed C-H functionalization reactions. As a result, a variety of fluorinated isocryptolepine analogues were obtained in up to 96% yield. Moreover, we conducted control experiments to disclose the reaction mechanism.
