A method for the preparation of chiral triarylmethanes via organocatalytic 1,6-addition of arylboronic acids to para-quinone methides (p-QMs) was established. Here the use of salicylaldehyde-derived p-QMs with an ortho-hydroxy substituent as a directing group was essential for the remote stereocontrol. In the presence of a BINOL catalyst, chiral triarylmethanes, e.g., I, can be obtained in high yields (up to 99%) with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee). This method shows broad substrate tolerance and can be easily scaled up, both electron-rich and electron-deficient arylboronic acids are suitable substrates for this addition reaction. A review. The ubiquity of microplastics in aquatic and terrestrial environments and related ecol. impacts have gained global attention. Microplastics have been detected in table salt, drinking water, and air, posing inevitable human exposure risk. However, rigorous anal. methods for detection and characterization of microplastics remain scarce. Knowledge about the potential adverse effects on human health via dietary and respiratory exposures is also limited. To address these issues, we reviewed 46 publications concerning abundances, potential sources, and anal. methods of microplastics in table salt, drinking water, and air. We also summarized probable translocation and accumulation pathways of microplastics within human body. Human body burdens of microplastics through table salt, drinking water, and inhalation were estimated to be (0-7.3)×104, (0-4.7)×103, and (0-3.0)×107 items per person per yr, resp. The intake of microplastics via inhalation, especially via indoor air, was much higher than those via other exposure routes. Moreover, microplastics in the air impose threats to both respiratory and digestive systems through breathing and ingestion. Given the lifetime inevitable exposure to microplastics, we urgently call for a better understanding of the potential hazards of microplastics to human health. Electric Literature of C7H6Cl2 The article mentions the following:

Selenocyanates represent an interesting class of organic selenium compounds Due to their similarity with better known natural (iso-)thiocyanates, they promise high biol. activity and may also be metabolized to other reactive selenium species (RSeS), such as selenols, diselenides, and seleninic acids. Thirteen arylmethyl selenocyanates were synthesized and evaluated for potential antimicrobial, nematicidal, and cytotoxic activity. The compounds exhibit pronounced antimicrobial activity against various strains of Gram-pos. and Gram-neg. bacteria and yeasts, including multidrug resistant strains. The results obtained so far demonstrate that these arylmethyl selenocyanates are also non-mutagenic and have limited cytotoxicity against human cells. Here, benzyl selenocyanate represents the most active anti-ESKAPE agent, with potent activity against multidrug resistant MRSA strains (HEMSA 5) with a competitive MIC value of just 0.76 μg/mL (3.88 μM), whereas it exhibits low(er) cytotoxicity (IC50 = 31 μM) and no mutagenicity against mammalian cells. Due to this selective antimicrobial activity, aromatic selenocyanates may provide an interesting lead in the development of antimicrobial agents, particularly in the context of drug resistance. Cinnamon is an important spice crop that is widely cultivated in tropical regions. In this study, the antibacterial activities of four accessions of cinnamon essential oil (CEO) belonging to three different species (CEO1 and CEO4, Cinnamomum cassia Presl. (Lauraceae) bark; CEO2, Cinnamomum zeylanicum Blume (Lauraceae) bark; CEO3, Cinnamomum burmannii Blume (Lauraceae) bark) toward Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar pullorum (S. pullorum) were evaluated by microdilution assay and kinetic anal. The min. inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the CEOs were all 0.31 mg/mL, and kinetic anal. suggested that the lag phase and maximum specific growth rate of bacteria were concentration dependent. Furthermore, to explore the synergistic antibacterial effects between main components and minor components, the volatile constituents of CEOs were determined by gas chromatog.-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Cinnamaldehyde (CM) (57.73 %-91.79 %) was the principal constituent in CEO1-CEO4 (p < 0.05), with CEO3 having the highest CM contents. A synergistic effect against S. pullorum was observed when CA was combined with CM. To explore the potential synergistic mechanism, the membrane glycerophospholipid (GPL) composition of S. pullorum was characterized by ultra-performance liquid chromatog.-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). CM, CA, and their combination regulated the levels of most phosphatidylethanolamines (PEs), phosphatidylglycerols (PGs), phosphatidic acids (PAs), and some cardiolipins (CLs). 《Water Recovery Rate in Short-Circuited Closed-Cycle Operation of Flow-Electrode Capacitive Deionization (FCDI)》 was written by Ma, Junjun; Ma, Jinxing; Zhang, Changyong; Song, Jingke; Collins, Richard N.; Waite, T. David. Quality Control of Sodium chlorideThis research focused onwater desalting flow electrode capacitance deionization. The article conveys some information:

While flow-electrode CDI is a promising desalination technol. that has major advantages when the electrodes are operated in short-circuited closed-cycle (SCC) mode, little attention was paid to the H2O recovery rate which, in SCC mode, is determined by the need for partial replacement of the saline electrolyte of the flow electrodes. Results of this study show that an extremely high H2O recovery rate of ∼95% can be achieved when desalting a 1000 mg NaCl L-1 brackish influent to a potable level of 150 mg/L. The improved performance with regard to elec. cost is related, at least in part, to the alleviated concentration polarization at the membrane/electrolyte interface during electrosorption. In effect, the current efficiency decreases with an increase in H2O recovery rate. This finding is ascribed to inevitable co-ion leakage since the flow electrodes reject ions with the same charge. H2O transport across the ion exchange membranes also influences the H2O recovery rate. The effect of partial replacement of the saline electrolyte during continuous operation requires particular consideration because the associated dilution of the C content in the flow electrodes results in a decrease in process performance. In the experiment, the researchers used many compounds, for example, Sodium chloride(cas: 7647-14-5Quality Control of Sodium chloride)

A semi empirical kinetic (SEK) method has been used to determine the ratio of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTABr) micellar binding constants of counterion X- and Br- (a reference counterion), i.e. KX/KBr (=RXBr). The values of KX and KBr have been derived from the kinetic parameters obtained in the presence spherical/non-spherical and spherical micelles, resp. This rather new method gives the resp. mean values of RXBr as 45 ± 2, 25 ± 3, 4.7 ± 0.6 and 119 ± 10 for X = 2,4-, 2,5-, 2,6- and 3,4-Cl2C6H3CO2- (Cl2Bz’Na). Literature lacks the report on the values of RXBr for all X except for X = 2,6-Cl2C6H3CO2- (2,6-Cl2Bz’-) for which the reported value is 5.0. Rheol. properties, such as shear thinning behavior, reveal indirectly the presence of wormlike micelles (WM) in the CTABr micellar solutions containing MX for all X except X = 2,6-Cl2Bz’-. The micelles remain spherical within [2,6-Cl2Bz’-] range 0.01 – 0.34 M at 0.015 M CTABr. The semi-empirical spectrophotometric (SESp) method, for the indirect determination of ion exchange constants (KXBr) of ion exchange processes occurring between counterions (X- and Br-) at the cationic micellar surface, is described in this article. The method uses an anionic spectrophotometric probe mol., N-(2-methoxyphenyl)phthalamate ion (1-), which measures the effects of varying concentrations of inert inorganic or organic salt (NavX, v = 1, 2) on absorbance, (Aob) at 310 nm, of samples containing constant concentrations of 1-, NaOH and cationic micelles. The observed data fit satisfactorily to an empirical equation which gives the values of two empirical constants These empirical constants lead to the determination of KXBr (= KX/KBr with KX and KBr representing cationic micellar binding constants of counterions X and Br-). This method gives values of KXBr for both moderately hydrophobic and hydrophilic X-. The values of KXBr, obtained by using this method, are comparable with the corresponding values of KXBr, obtained by the use of semi-empirical kinetic (SEK) method, for different moderately hydrophobic X. The values of KXBr for X = Cl- and 2,6-Cl2C6H3CO2-, obtained by the use of SESp and SEK methods, are similar to those obtained by the use of other different conventional methods.Sodium 2,6-dichlorobenzoate(cas: 10007-84-8Application of 10007-84-8) was used in this study.
