The magnetic and non-magnetic layered double hydroxide (LDH@Fe3O4 and LDH) were developed via simple co-precipitation method. After modified by methyltrioctylammonium chloride (N8881Cl), the absorption capability of the materials for inorganic pollutant perchlorate (ClO4) improved obviously through ion exchange. Then the characteristics of studied materials were examined by SEM (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform IR spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopy (XPS) and Zeta potential measurements. The removal performance of ClO4 from water was investigated, and the effects of adsorption parameters on the efficiency were studied, such as contact time, initial concentration, pH and co-existing anions. The adsorption process was quite rapid and the removal rate could reach over 90% on N8881Cl-LDH@Fe3O4 within just 1 min. Maximum adsorption capacities were observed as 50.58 and 60.68 mg g-1 for N8881Cl-LDH and N8881Cl-LDH@Fe3O4 at 303 K. Moreover, the pH and common co-existing anions had little effects on adsorption capacity of ClO4. It was found that the equilibrium adsorption process could be well described by pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. In brief, the N8881Cl-LDH@Fe3O4 synthesized in this study has the characters of low cost, mild conditions and easy operation, showing satisfactory absorption performance such as fast adsorption and low pH-dependence, which is potential on ClO4 removal from aqueous solution This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as N-Methyl-N,N-dioctyloctan-1-aminium chloride (cas: 5137-55-3Product Details of 5137-55-3).

Unraveling 1-Hexene Hydrogenation over Dilute Pd-in-Au Alloys was written by van der Hoeven, Jessi E. Dilute Pd-in-Au alloys are valuable materials for selectively hydrogenating alkynes and isomerizing alkenes. By diluting Pd in a Au host, the selectivity toward semihydrogenated alkene isomers can be significantly enhanced and the unfavorable overhydrogenation to alkanes is suppressed. However, a detailed mechanistic study on the origin of the enhanced alkene selectivity over dilute alloy catalysts is still missing. Here, we combine experiment and theory to unravel the reaction mechanism, identifying rate-limiting and selectivity-controlling steps in 1-hexene hydrogenation over dilute Pd-in-Au catalysts. Using isotope-exchange hydrogenation experiments, we show that 1-hexene and hydrogen over a bimetallic Pd4Au96 in silica catalyst preferentially form 1-hexene isomers, (trans and cis) 2- and 3-hexene and only a small amounts of hexane. The reaction is consistent with a Horiuti-Polanyi mechanism, similar to a monometallic Pd nanoparticle catalyst. Computation of the free-energy profiles for 1-hexene hydrogenation and isomerization over a single Pd atom in a Au surface using first principles calculations indicated that the isomerization of 1-hexene to 2-hexene is energetically favorable due to the relatively large barrier for H2 dissociation preventing hydrogenation to n-hexane. Microkinetic modeling established that H2 dissociation on the single-atom Pd sites and H spillover from these sites onto the Au host are rate-limiting and key in steering the selectivity of dilute Pd-in-Au alloys toward the hexene isomers. The mechanistic insights from this study contribute to the rational design of optimized dilute alloy catalysts for selective alkene isomerization. Various W and Mo co-doped titanium dioxide (TiO2) materials were obtained through the EISA (Evaporation-Induced Self-Assembly) method and then tested as photocatalysts in the degradation of 4-chlorophenol. The synthesized materials were characterized by thermogravimetric anal. (TGA), Fourier transform IR (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy (RS), N2 physisorption, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), XPS, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that the W-Mo-TiO2 catalysts have a high surface area of about 191 m2/g, and the presence of an anatase crystalline phase. The co-doped materials exhibited smaller crystallite sizes than those with one dopant, since the crystallinity is inhibited by the presence of both species. In addition, tungsten and molybdenum dopants are distributed and are incorporated into the anatase structure of TiO2, due to changes in red parameters and lattice expansion. Under our exptl. conditions, the co-doped TiO2 catalyst presented 46% more 4-chlorophenol degradation than Degussa P25. The incorporation of two dopant cations in titania improved its photocatalytic performance, which was attributed to a cooperative effect by decreasing the recombination of photogenerated charges, high radiation absorption capacity, high surface areas, and low crystallinity. When TiO2 is co-doped with the same amount of both cations (1 weight%), the highest degradation and mineralization (97% and 74%, resp.) is achieved. Quinones were the main intermediates in the 4-chlorophenol oxidation by W-Mo-TiO2 and 1,2,4-benzenetriol was incompletely degraded. A simplified method for determination of short-, medium-, and long-chain chlorinated paraffins using tetramethyl ammonium chloride as mobile phase modifier was written by Huang, Xiaomei;Ding, Chenhong;Su, Qiuquan;Wang, Ying;Cui, Zefeng;Yin, Qiumiao;Wang, Xu. And the article was included in Journal of Chromatography A in 2021.Application In Synthesis of Tetramethylammonium chloride The following contents are mentioned in the article:

The formation of halide adducts ion is an important pathway to improve the sensitivity of analytes in liquid chromatog. (LC) combined with neg. electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry (MS). Although adding modifier in mobile phase is generally the simplest way to form anions adducts, the formation of halide adducts ion requires a complex post-column addition strategy since traditional halide ionization enhancement reagents are incompatible with LC systems. To solve this problem, the volatile organochlorine salt tetra-Me ammonium chloride (TMAC) was therefore investigated as a potentially non-corrosive mobile phase modifier that was confirmed to be compatible with both LC and MS systems in this study. When short-chain, medium-chain, and long-chain chlorinated paraffins (CPs) were determinated simultaneously by ultra-high performance LC combined with ESI high resolution MS (UPLC-ESI-HRMS), all of them tended to ionize by forming [M+Cl] ions and exhibited excellent sensitivity with the instrumental detection limits of 1-4 pg/μL. Meanwhile, their sensitivities towards CPs were less dependent on their Cl content with the total relative response factors of 0.8-3.5. The method’s utility was demonstrated through determination of CPs in surface soil and chicken muscle samples. This was an effective and practical method to enhance the selectivity for [M + Cl] ions and improve sensitivity towards CPs with various carbon lengths. Importantly, post-column addition was not required, and thus the anal. procedure was simplified. The method has also improved sensitivity towards some other organohalides and may be generally useful in the determination of challenging organic analytes. Improved synthetic route to heteroleptic alkylphosphine oxides was written by Kendall, Alexander J.;Seidenkranz, Daniel T.;Tyler, David R.. And the article was included in Organometallics in 2017.Synthetic Route of C6H12BrCl The following contents are mentioned in the article:

A new method for the synthesis of heteroleptic alkylphosphine oxides R2R1P:O (R ≠ R1) from secondary phosphine oxides R2HP:O comprises reaction of alkyl halide R1X with sodium phosphinite salt NaOPR2 in THF at 22°, which gives high product yields for primary and, partially, for secondary alkyl halides. These reactions were fast at room temperature, sterically selective, high yielding, and >95% pure after an aqueous wash. Deprotonation of an secondary phosphine oxides (SPO) generates a phosphinite anion ([R2P-O]) that was found to be highly selective for nucleophilic P-C bond formation (as opposed to O-C bond formation) with alkyl halides. Surprisingly, most strong organometallic bases failed to deprotonate SPOs to their resp. phosphinite anions (pKas for most SPOs are <27). Only sodium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide (NaHMDS) cleanly formed the phosphinite anion, which was stable in solution (0.1 M, 23° in THF) for over 24 h. The need for a very specific base to deprotonate suggests that both ion pairing and the conjugate acid play a role in stabilizing the phosphinite anion. Phosphinite anion reactivity followed the expected trend for an SN2 mechanism on reaction with alkyl halides; elimination products were never observed A wide variety of heteroleptic alkylphosphine oxides were isolated in near-quant. yield with only an aqueous wash as purification This methodol. was then used to make new bis(phosphine oxide)alkanes and unsym. α,ω-bis(phosphine oxide)alkanes (R2P(O)(CH2)3P(O)R12) on the benchtop with unprecedented ease. In this study, a novel liquid desiccant air conditioning/drying cum desalination system is proposed employing Maisotsenko cycle-based indirect contact cooler in the dehumidifier and membrane-based indirect contact regenerator instead of the conventional structured packing-based dehumidifier and structured packing based direct contact regenerator. The liquid desiccant selected for the present investigation is lithium chloride (LiCl). A thermal model is developed to predict the performance of the above-mentioned conventional and novel systems. The developed model has been validated with the exptl. data available in the literature and found to match well with a maximum possible error of ±9.7%. Depending upon the developed model, a performance comparison of conventional and novel systems and performance assessment of novel air conditioning/drying cum desalination system is carried out. From the performance assessment, it is observed that for the given operating range, coefficient of performance (COP) varies from 0.75-0.81 and 0.85-0.92 for conventional and novel systems, resp. that are intended for air conditioning application whereas system efficiency varies from 50%-55% and 70%-75% for conventional and novel systems, resp. which are meant for drying application. Further, it is also found that the novel system has 18% more COP and 27% higher system efficiency compared to the conventional system designated for air conditioning and drying applications, resp. Moreover, from the novel air conditioning/drying cum desalination system, the maximum amount of freshwater obtained as a byproduct from the atm. air is about 4.62 LPM. BACKGOUND : The recycling of valuable metals from spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) has attracted much attention. This work investigated the recovery of cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) from metallic alloys generated from the reduction smelting of spent LIBs by a hydrometallurgical process. RESULTS : The complete leaching conditions for metals from the alloys were optimized as: 2.0 mol L-1 hydrochloric acid (HCl), 5% (volume/volume) hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) with 30 g L-1 pulp d. at 60 °C within 150 min. Metal ions such as Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Fe(III), Mn(II) and silicon [Si(IV)] from HCl leachate were separated sequentially in four steps using solvent extraction and oxidative precipitation First, Fe(III) was completely extracted over others using 0.5 mol L-1 Di-(2-Et Hexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA). Second, Cu(II) from the Fe(III)-free raffinate was selectively extracted using 0.25 mol L-1 Cyanex301. Fe(III) and Cu(II) were quant. stripped from their loaded phases using 50% (volume/volume) aqua regia. Third, Co(II) from the Fe(III)- and Cu(II)-free raffinate was selectively extracted over Ni(II), Mn(II) and Si(IV) with 0.25 mol L-1 ALi-SCN and stripped with 10% (volume/volume) ammonia (NH3). Finally, Mn(II) from the raffinate containing Ni(II) and Si(IV) was separated at pH 3 by oxidative precipitation of MnO2 after adding 10% (volume/volume) sodium hypochlorite (NaClO). Mass balance anal. of the whole process indicated that the recovery and purity percentage of the metal ions were >99.9%. CONCLUSION : With its effective and selective performance, the application of this process to real-life recovery of valuable metals from spent LIBs can be considered. 2021 Society of Chem. The development of effective disinfection strategies, including the search for new active biocides, is a priority research for the food industry. Glycolic acid (GA) and glyoxal (GO) are two glycolysis byproducts approved as biocides for surface disinfection, whose antimicrobial action remains to be understood. This study focused on the understanding of the antimicrobial activity of GA and GO against two foodborne pathogens, Bacillus cereus and Pseudomonas fluorescens. Benzalkonium chloride (BAC) and peracetic acid (PAA) were used as reference biocides for comparison. The influence of biocide concentration and exposure time on the antimicrobial activity of the selected biocides was evaluated based on the European Standard EN 1276. The mode of action of each biocide was characterized based on their effects on the cell envelope and cell replication. According to the Chick-Watson model, all biocides interacted chem. with cell targets of both bacteria, except GO that only stablished physicochem. interactions with P. fluorescens. The survival curves revealed that high concentrations of biocide induced readily effects on cell culturability. The susceptibility profile of P. fluorescens was constant over time. In general, B. cereus increased tolerance to BAC and became more susceptible to cumulative damages of GA. Overall, this study demonstrates that the biocidal activity was species-, dose- and time-dependent. GA, similarly to BAC, was a membrane-active and oxidant agent. GO had no effect on the bacterial surface as well as PAA. GO was mainly categorized as a cell replication inhibitor. For the first time, the antimicrobial activity of GA and GO were characterized revealing their potential for rational combination with other biocides commonly used in the food industry. Selective separation of cadmium(II), copper(II) and nickel(II) ions from electroplating wastewater using dual flat sheet supported liquid membrane was written by Lee, Lai Yee;Morad, Norhashimah;Ismail, Norli;Rafatullah, Mohd. And the article was included in Desalination and Water Treatment in 2021.Formula: C25H54ClN The following contents are mentioned in the article:

A dual flat sheet supported liquid membrane (DFSSLM) system was developed based on concurrent extraction, selective separation, and recovery of three metal ions from a mixture in a single process. DFSSLM was made up of a combination of two membranes and three compartments (feed, intermediate and strip) to selectively recover not just one but three types of metal ions at the end of the system. This research aims to study the efficiency of DFSSLM in the selective extraction of cadmium(II) and copper(II) over nickel(II) ions from an aqueous mixture and electroplating waste-water. The first membrane was impregnated with 100 mM di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid and 50 mM tri-Bu phosphate in kerosene, whereas the second membrane was impregnated with 99.64 mM trioctylmethylammonium chloride and 50 mM tri-Bu phosphate in toluene. After continuous stirring (500 rpm) in all compartments for 48 h, 98.79% of nickel(II) was recovered from the synthetic mixture in feed, 91.32% of copper(II) in intermediate, and 91.04% of cadmium(II) in strip compartment. The flux changes and kinetic studies showed cadmium(II) was preferentially transported over copper(II). The membranes (polymer and extractants) were characterized by Fourier transform IR spectroscopy and SEM with an energy-dispersive X-ray. In comparison with the treatment of real electroplating effluent, high output/input ratios were obtained for recovered cadmium(II), copper(II) and nickel(II). Most of the other heavy metals were eliminated together with the recovery of 89.09% of cadmium(II) in the strip, 90.87% of copper(II) in intermediate, and 97.61% of nickel(II) in the feed. This study concluded that DFSSLM is efficient for the separation and recovery of cadmium(II), copper(II) and nickel(II) from a complex mixture This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as N-Methyl-N,N-dioctyloctan-1-aminium chloride (cas: 5137-55-3Formula: C25H54ClN).

N-Methyl-N,N-dioctyloctan-1-aminium chloride (cas: 5137-55-3) belongs to organic chlorides. Organic chlorides can cause corrosion in pipelines, valves and condensers, and cause catalyst poisoning. The hydrocarbon processing industry (HPI) and others are affected by damage caused by these substances. Alkanes and aryl alkanes may be chlorinated under free radical conditions, with UV light. However, the extent of chlorination is difficult to control.Formula: C25H54ClN
