To expand the existing application conditions of photochromic polymers and enhance the tolerance of photochromic polymer electronic devices in extreme environments, a diamine monomer DTEDA bearing the diarylethylene (DTE) moiety was synthesized and polymerized with com. available dihydrides to afford three polyimides (PIs, named DTEODPI, DTE6FPI and DTEHPMPI) through chem. imidization. These PIs realized reversible photo-triggered isomerization both in solution and in film state, with solution photoluminescence “on/off” effects. Semi-aromatic DTEHPMPI showed the largest contrast of color and fastest light response due to its local excited (LE) state. This research provides a simple method to prepare photochromic polymer materials with excellent comprehensive properties.

Abundant aromatic carboxylic acids exist in great structural diversity from nature and synthesis. To date, the synthetically valuable decarboxylative functionalization of benzoic acids is realized mainly by transition-metal-catalyzed decarboxylative cross couplings. However, the high activation barrier for thermal decarboxylative carbometalation that often requires 140°C reaction temperature limits both the substrate scope as well as the scope of suitable reactions that can sustain such conditions. Numerous reactions, for example, decarboxylative fluorination that is well developed for aliphatic carboxylic acids, are out of reach for the aromatic counterparts with current reaction chem. Here, we report a conceptually different approach through a low-barrier photoinduced ligand to metal charge transfer (LMCT)-enabled radical decarboxylative carbometalation strategy, which generates a putative high-valent arylcopper(III) complex, from which versatile facile reductive eliminations can occur. We demonstrate the suitability of our new approach to address previously unrealized general decarboxylative fluorination of benzoic acids.

Perez-Lemus, N. published the artcileAnalysis of 60 pharmaceuticals and personal care products in sewage sludge by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectroscopy, Related Products of chlorides-buliding-blocks, the publication is Microchemical Journal (2022), 107148, database is CAplus.

This paper presents a comparison of three different anal. proposals for the determination of 60 pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in solid urban sewage sludge. Two fast sample pretreatments, i.e., online solid-phase-extraction (online SPE) and direct injection (DI), were tested against the conventional offline solid phase extraction (offline SPE). In all cases, subsequently, extracts underwent ultra-high-performance-liquid chromatog. coupled to tandem-mass-spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS), simultaneously operating in both pos. and neg. electrospray ionization (ESI) mode. In addition, as solid matrixes, clean-up steps were necessarily preceded by ultra-sound-assisted extraction (UAE) in all cases. Matrix-matched quantification was combined with internal standard providing high reliability to all three approaches. Best performance was observed for the fully automatized and non-pretreated DI method, showing limits of detection below 30 ng g-1 for many of the target compounds, and recoveries between 80 and 120%. Finally, the best working method was validated and applied to the anal. of PPCPs in different dewatered digested sludge samples from the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Valladolid (Spain). Acetaminophen was found at concentrations above 1,000 ng g-1.

Forward osmosis (FO) is a promising technol. for the treatment of urban wastewater. FO can produce high-quality effluents and preconc. urban wastewater for subsequent anaerobic treatment. This membrane technol. makes it possible to eliminate the pollutants present in urban wastewater, which can cause adverse effects in the ecosystem even at low concentrations In this study, a 0.6 m2 hollow fiber aquaporin forward osmosis membrane was used for the treatment of urban wastewater from the Valladolid wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). A total of 51 Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) were investigated, of which 18 were found in the target urban wastewater. They were quantified, and their ecotoxicol. risk impact was evaluated. Different salts with different concentrations were tested as draw solutions to evaluate the membrane performances when working with pretreated urban wastewater. NaCl was found to be the most appropriate salt since it leads to higher permeate fluxes and lower reverse saline fluxes. The membrane can eliminate or significantly reduce the pollutants present in the studied urban wastewater, producing water without ecotoxicol. risk or essentially free of pollutants. In all cases, good recovery was achieved, which increased with mol. weight, although chem. and electrostatic interactions also played a role.

In order to evaluate scientifically the differences in the flavor of macadamia nuts dried with different methods, electronic tongue and electronic nose sensory technologies combined with gas chromatog.-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) were used to analyze their flavor quality. The results showed that there were significant differences between fresh macadamia nuts and different dried macadamia nuts in umami, salty, sour and bitter tastes, and the cumulative contribution rate of the first two principal components of linear discriminant anal. (LDA) was 96.60%, which could distinguish completely macadamia nuts dried in different ways. The responses of the electronic nose to macadamia nuts processed differently differed significantly. The cumulative contribution rate of the first two principal components in principal component anal. (PCA) reached 98.79%, which could well distinguish the volatile flavor compounds of the macadamia nuts dried by different treatments. The sensors W1S, W3S and W3C played major roles in the principal component anal. As a supplement to the electronic nose, GC-MS identified a total of 227 volatile components, with alkanes and aldehydes being dominant in types and contents. The relative contents of alkanes in the four different treatments of macadamia nuts were 26.29%, 40.76%, 23.64% and 39.46%, resp., and the relative contents of aldehydes were 29.01%, 18.96%, 26.03% and 23.87%, resp. Therefore, the combination of electronic tongue, electronic nose and GC-MS can better distinguish macadamia nuts dried with different methods, thereby providing a theor. reference for postharvest primary processing of macadamia nuts in growing regions.
