The association constant and enthalpy of formation of the equilibrium between phenol and twelve 5,5-dimethyl-2-oxo-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinanes I (R = Cl, CCl3, OMe, Ph, NMe2, etc.) and six diethylphosphonates (EtO)2P(O)R1 (R1 = CCl3, SMe, CPh3, etc.) were determined The association constant, enthalpy of association, half band width, ν1/2, of the complexed O-H bond, P(O) bond moment, μPO, and excess charge d., Δq, on the phosphoryl O give linear relations with the O-H frequency shift, ΔνOH. The calculated P(O) bond moment in the axial and equatorial position gives a linear correlation with the exptl. P(O) stretching frequency. Furthermore, the square root of the addnl. dipole moment, Δμ1/2, due to H bond formation, correlates linearly with the association constant, the O-H frequency shift, and with the half band width. A close relationship between band width of the complexed O-H bond and the strength and polarity of the H bonded complex is deduced.

Sanchez, Raquel published the artcileMinimization of the effect of silicon chemical form in xylene matrices on ICP-AES performance, Formula: C7H16Cl2Si, the publication is Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry (2009), 24(10), 1382-1388, database is CAplus.

It was shown previously that the influence of the silicon chem. form could be minimized in ICP-AES by using high efficiency sample introduction systems. The effects of two of the most different silicon chem. forms were minimized in ICP-AES by using near total sample consumption systems. The two tested devices were a single pass spray chamber equipped with wall heating (heated torch integrated sample introduction system, h-TISIS) and a demountable direct injection high efficiency nebulizer (d-DIHEN). A room temperature TISIS and a cyclonic spray chamber were taken as the reference systems. Solutions containing silicon as six different compounds in xylene were prepared and analyzed through ICP-AES. At low liquid flow rates, the h-TISIS improves the sensitivity and the limits of detection as compared to the d-DIHEN. In contrast, shorter wash-out times were obtained for the d-DIHEN. As regards to the effect of the silicon chem. form, h-TISIS and d-DIHEN have minimized it with respect to a conventional cyclonic spray chamber.

Sanchez, Raquel published the artcileEffect of the silicon chemical form on the emission intensity in inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry for xylene matrices, COA of Formula: C7H16Cl2Si, the publication is Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry (2009), 24(4), 391-401, database is CAplus.

Silicon is present in petrol products under very different chem. forms. The effect of the silicon chem. form on the sensitivity was studied by inductively coupled plasma at. emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). Solutions containing sixteen different silicon organic compounds with the same silicon concentration were prepared in xylene. The studied compounds were: six siloxanes, nine silanes and a silicate. Their b.ps. ranged from 101° (hexamethyldisiloxane) to 310° (2,3,4-(epoxycyclohexyl)ethyltrimetoxysilane). The ICP-AES signal depended strongly on the silicon compound Thus, for a commonly used sample introduction system consisting of a cross-flow pneumatic nebulizer coupled to a Ryton double pass spray chamber, the signal varied by a factor of up to 17, depending on the compound For most studied cases, some siloxanes yielded higher emission intensities than silanes. Under some circumstances, hexylmethyldichlorosilane and dimethyldodecylchlorosilane also produced higher signals than the other studied silanes. To elucidate the possible mechanisms for these changes, experiments were performed to verify whether the origin could be assigned either to the plasma or to the sample introduction system. Using the Mg II/Mg I ratio, no significant change in the plasma characteristics was actually observed As regards the sample introduction system, (i) the primary aerosol, (ii) the transport and memory effects using continuous and discrete introduction modes, an alternative spray chamber, and a total consumption system (the TISIS system), and (iii) the tertiary aerosol, via an impactor, were studied. Addnl. experiments were carried out with an ultrasonic nebulizer. The Si behavior was compared to other elements, such as Cu, Mg, Mn and Zn. The Si behavior was not related to the pneumatic nebulizer and suggested that a fraction of silicon was transported towards the plasma as a vapor when it was present as hexamethyldisiloxane (i.e., the compound with the lowest b.p. among the species studied). In any case, the variability of the signal induced by the different silicon chem. forms was less significant for the TISIS than for cyclonic and ultrasonic nebulizer. The observed results were specific to silicon as the signal of the other elements did not significantly change with silicon chem. form. As a consequence, internal standardization was not appropriate for mitigating interferences on silicon when petroleum products were analyzed.

The catalytic enantioselective synthesis of 3-aryl-substituted pyrrolopyrimidines (PPYs), a common motif in drug discovery, is achieved through a kinetic resolution via quaternary ammonium salt-catalyzed nucleophilic aromatic substitution (SNAr). Both enantioenriched products and starting materials can be functionalized with no observed racemization to give enantiodivergent access to diverse chiral analogs of an important class of kinase inhibitor. One of the compounds was found to be a potent and selective inhibitor of breast tumor kinase.

A series of dihetero[8]helicenes (P)/(M)/(rac)-I (R = O, S, NH, SO2) have been systematically synthesized in enantiomerically enriched forms by utilizing the characteristic transformations of the organosulfur functionality. The synthetic route begins with assembling a ternaphthyl II common synthetic intermediate from 2-naphthol and 2,7-bis(phenethylsulfinyl)naphthalene through an extended Pummerer reaction followed by facile multi-gram-scale resolution The subsequent cyclization reactions into dioxa- and dithia[8]helicenes (P)/(M)/(rac)-I take place with excellent axial-to-helical chirality conversion. Dithia[8]helicenes (P)/(M)/(rac)-III are further transformed into the nitrogen (P)/(M)/(rac)-I and the carbon analogs (P)/(M)/(rac)-IV and (P)/(M)/(rac)-V by replacing the two endocyclic sulfur atoms via SNAr-based skeletal reconstruction. The efficient systematic synthesis has enabled comprehensive evaluation of phys. properties, which has clarified the effect of the endocyclic atoms on their structures and (chir)optical properties as well as the unexpected conformational stability of the common helical framework.

Among them, compound II exhibited the highest potency against all CVB serotypes as well as CVA16 with IC50 values ranging from 2.02 μM to 7.41 μM, indicating a broad-spectrum anti-coxsackieviruse effect. Furthermore, compound II demonstrated a good safety profile in vivo.
