Hangzhou, one the most prosperous cities in China, suffers from severe atmospheric quality degradation in recent years. For the good of nine million local citizens and incoming Asian Games, Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) and Random Forest are used to analyze the air pollution in Hangzhou. Compared with the traditional atmospheric models, machine learning models are faster, more accurate and less costly in simulating all the pollutants without using the pollution inventory. The Feature Importance (Fl) generated by Random Forest reveals the complicated relationships among air pollutants and meteorology. Carbon monoxide (CO) plays an important role in shaping ground-level ozone, nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matters (PM) in the atmospheric environment. Dew-point deficit plays a more important role than relative humidity in shaping air pollutants. Urban heat island effect is not obvious for the air pollutants from non-point source. Furthermore, a WRF/RNN-based method to forecast air pollutants, including SO2, NO2, CO, PM2.5, PM10 and O-3, in the future 24 h is proposed and a RNN-based method to estimate regional transport rate of air pollutants and reversely identify air pollution emission sources is introduced. A series of unsymmetrical 1,3-disubstituted benzimidazolium chlorides were synthesized as N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) precursors. These compounds were used to synthesize of the PEPPSI-type palladium NHC complexes. The structures of all compounds were characterized by H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analyses. 2-Pyridyl ketones widely appear in bioactive molecules, natural products, and are employed as precursors of chiral 2-pyridine alky/aryl alcohols or 2-aminoalkyl pyridine ligands for asymmetric catalysis. Chiral beta-amino alcohols are important building blocks for the synthesis of drugs, natural products, chiral auxiliaries, chiral ligands and chiral organocatalysts. The catalytic asymmetric beta-amination of alcohols offers a direct strategy to access this class of molecules. Herein, we report a general intramolecular C(sp(3))-H nitrene insertion method for the synthesis of chiral oxazolidin-2-ones as precursors of chiral beta-amino alcohols. Specifically, the ring-closing C(sp(3))-H amination of N-benzoyloxycarbamates with 2 mol% of a chiral ruthenium catalyst provides cyclic carbamates in up to 99% yield and with up to 99% ee. The method is applicable to benzylic, allylic, and propargylic C-H bonds and can even be applied to completely non-activated C (sp(3))-H bonds, although with somewhat reduced yields and stereoselectivities. The obtained cyclic carbamates can subsequently be hydrolyzed to obtain chiral beta-amino alcohols. The method is very practical as the catalyst can be easily synthesized on a gram scale and can be recycled after the reaction for further use. The synthetic value of the new method is demonstrated with the asymmetric synthesis of a chiral oxazolidin-2-one as intermediate for the synthesis of the natural product aurantioclavine and chiral beta-amino alcohols that are intermediates for the synthesis of chiral amino acids, indane-derived chiral Box-ligands, and the natural products dihydrohamacanthin A and dragmacidin A.

The insect enzyme GH20 beta-N-acetyl-D-hexosaminidase OfHex1 represents an important chitinolytic enzyme found in the agricultural pest Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenee) and inhibition of this enzyme has been considered a promising strategy for the development of eco-friendly pesticides. In this article, based on the structure of the catalytic domains of OfHex1, a series of novel glycosyl triazoles were designed and synthesized via Cu-catalyzed azide-alkyne [3+ 2] cycloaddition reaction. To investigate the potency and selectivity of these glycosyl triazoles, the inhibition activities towards OfHex1 and HsHexB (human beta-N-acetylhexosaminidase B) were studied. Particularly compound 17c (OfHex1, K-i= 28.68 mu M; HsHexB, K-i > 100 mu M) exhibited a suitable activity and selectivity against OfHex1. Furthermore, the possible inhibitory mechanisms of 17c with OfHex1 were studied using molecular docking and MD simulations. The structure-activity relationship results as well as the formed binding patterns may provide promising insights into the further development of novel OfHex1 inhibitors.

The adsorption behaviors of Cu(II) and tetracycline (TC) on polyethylene microplastics that were exposed to air (A-PE-MPs), water (W-PE-MPs) and soil (S-PE-MPs) environments for a long time were investigated with batch experiments in this study. FT-IR and GC-MS analysis confirmed that phthalates (PAEs) were released from PE microplastics after exposure to UV light. When exposed to water and soil environments, PE microplastics were colonized by microorganisms and biofilms were formed on their surface. Compared with virgin microplastics (V-PE-MPs), the environment-exposed microplastics possessed higher adsorption and stabilization capacity for Cu (II) and TC. The adsorption isotherm data of V-PE-MPs and A-PE-MPs were well fitted by Freundlich model, whilst the adsorption by W-PE-MPs and S-PE-MPs were better described by Langmuir model. The Boyd equation used in kinetic experiments revealed that V-PE-MPs and A-PE-MPs were additionally affected by intra-particle diffusion compared with W-PE-MPs and S-PE-MPs. The glycosyl composition analysis suggested that the higher adsorption capacities of S-PE-MPs than W-PE-MPs could relate to the different components of extracellular polysaccharides in biofilms. Moreover, density functional theory further verified that Cu(II) and PAE adsorption on microplastics could be enhanced by the generation of Cu-PAE and Cu-PAE-TC complexes. In addition dissolved organic matter exerted opposite effects on the adsorption onto A-PE-MPs and S-PE-MPs due to their different affinity for Cu(II), TC and DOM. This study demonstrated that the contribution of microplastics to heavy metal and antibiotic migration could be affected by the way they exposed to environments.

Four donor-acceptor-donor region isomers (2,3-TXO-PhCz, 2,6-TXO-PhCz, 2,7-TXO-PhCz, and 3,6-TXO-PhCz) are designed. The substitution positions of the two PhCz units significantly impact the photophysical properties of the isomers, especially for the singlet-triplet energy splitting (Delta E-ST) and oscillator strength (f ). 2,3-TXO-PhCz exhibits weak emission due to the large steric hindrance of the two PhCz units. While 2,6-TXO-PhCz, 2,7-TXO-PhCz, and 3,6-TXO-PhCz all exhibit strong emission. The four emitters possess small Delta E-ST of 0.01-0.24 eV; the corresponding f values are 0.064, 0.107, 0.026, and 0.134. Consequently, the photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) of the doped films in CBP host are: 62.1% for 2,3-TXO-PhCz, 83.8% for 2,6-TXO-PhCz, 89.0% for 2,7-TXO-PhCz, and 85.4% for 3,6-TXO-PhCz. Although notable divergences of f and Delta E-ST exist between 2,6-TXO-PhCz and 2,7-TXO-PhCz, similar PLQY of doped film in the CBP host, and exciton utilization and external quantum efficiency (EQE) of the corresponding devices can be achieved: 2,6-TXO-PhCz and 2,7-TXO-PhCz endow the organic light-emitting devices with high EQE of 23.2% and 24.4%. This proximity can be attributed to the synergistic effect of f and Delta E-ST. This finding highlights the beneficial role of the different linking positions on the acceptor unit in facilitating the adjustment of f and Delta E-ST in order to improve the device efficiency.
