A novel third-nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal, piperazine-1,4-diium bis(2,4-dichlorobenzoate) (abbreviated as PBDCB) was successfully synthesized and grown good quality crystal by slow evaporation solution growth technique by methanol as a solvent at room temperature. The formation of the grown crystal was carried out by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The analysis of a single crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that the title compound was crystallized in the monoclinic system with centrosymmetric space group P21/c and thereof lattice parameter are a = 11.166(6) angstrom, b = 8.160(5) angstrom, c = 12.085(6) angstrom, beta= 113.18(3) degrees, Z = 4. Crystallographic studies also reveal that the molecules are linked via N-HO and C-H Cl hydrogen bonds. Pairs of intermolecular N-HO hydrogen bonds generate R 4 4 (12) ring motifs. The powder X-ray diffraction study was completed and the peaks were indexed. UV-Vis spectral studies were revealed that the grown crystal is transparent in the entire visible region with a lower cut off the wavelength of 286 nm. The optical band gap of the title compound was measured by Tauc’s plot method, and it was obtained to be 3.9 eV, which shows suitable applications of the optoelectronic device. In the photoluminescence study, the grown crystal was revealed violet emission radiation, and thereof peak has appeared at 312 nm. The functional groups of the grown crystal have been determined by Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) spectroscopy technique. In thermogravimetric (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) analysis, the title material was determined as thermally as stable up to 163 degrees C. The Vickers Microhardness test ascertained the mechanical properties of the grown crystal material, and it belongs to a soft material category. The dielectric measurements of the developed crystal material were also ascertained at various frequencies. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss, and A.C. the conductivity of title material was studied with different frequencies and temperatures. The laser damage threshold (LDT) of the grown crystal was then calculated by using Nd: YAG laser. The grown crystal has given the measured (LDT) value of 8.97 GW/cm2. The third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) properties characteristics, such as absorption coefficient (beta similar to 0.02 x 10 -4 cm/W), the refractive index (n(2) similar to 4.06 x 10(-8) cm(2)/W), and their susceptibility range values of (chi((3)) similar to 2.17 x 10(-6)esu) of the grown crystal was estimated by Z-scan technique, suggests that the grown crystal material PBDCB was served as a promising source for nonlinear optical devices. Oxathiapiprolin is one of the best active fungicides discovered for oomycetes control. To develop a fungicide candidate with a broad spectrum of activity, 22 new piperidinylthiazole derivatives were designed and synthesized. Compound 51 showed the best activity against Pseudoperonospora cubensis (Berk. et Curt.) Rostov and Phytophthora infestans in vivo with 100% and 80% of inhibition, respectively, at 1 mg/L, and 72.87% of field efficacy against P. cubensis at 1 g ai/667 m(2) validated these results. Compound 5i exhibited a broad spectrum of excellent activity against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum with EC50 = 0.30 mg/ L (>10 times more active than oxathiapiprolin and azoxystrobin in vitro), good activity against Botrytis cinerea, Cercospora arachidicola, and Gibberella zeae with EC50 of 14.54, 5.57, and 14.03 mg/L in vitro and against P. cubensis and P. infestans with 60% and 30% inhibition rates, respectively, at 1 mg/L in vivo. Mode of action studies by RNA sequencing analysis discovered oxysterol-binding protein (OSBP), chitin synthase (CHS1), and (1,3)-beta-glucan synthase (FKS2) as the potent target of 5i against S. sclerotiorum. Quenching studies validated that OSBP was the same target of both 5i and oxathiapiprolin; it was quenched by both of them. We have discovered a new mode of reactivity of 1-thiosugars in the presence of Cu(II) or Co(II) for a stereoselective O-glycosylation reaction. The process involves the use of a catalytic amount of Cu(acac)(2) or Co(acac)(2) and Ag2CO3 as an oxidant in alpha,alpha,alpha-trifluorotoluene. Moreover, this protocol turned out to have a broad scope, allowing the preparation of a wide range of complex substituted O-glycoside esters in good to excellent yields with an exclusive 1,2-trans-selectivity. The late-stage modification of pharmaceuticals by this method was also demonstrated. To obtain a closer insight into the reaction mechanism, cyclic voltammetry was performed.

Tracing the herbicide bixlozone and its metabolites in food is necessary to assess their risks to human health. In the study, a rapid and effective analytical method using the quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe method for the simultaneous determination of bixlozone and its metabolites (2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid, 3-hydroxy-propanamide-bixlozone, and 5 ‘-hydroxy-bixlozone) in plant and animal samples (tomato, cucumber, apple, wheat flour, meat, milk, and egg) was developed based on ultra high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The method was validated based on the linearity (R-2 > 0.99), sensitivity (limit of quantification = 0.01 mg/kg), recovery (70.2-115.1%), and precision (intraday 1.2-17.6%, interday 0.3-16.0%). Detection was achieved within 6.0 min. The method is reliable for the determination of four target compounds in all seven matrices. The satisfactory validation criteria and successful application show that the proposed methodology is suitable for the detection of four target compounds in real matrices.

The current report represents a transition-metal-free synthesis of oxazoline and isoxazoline derivatives by a tandem electro-oxidative chalcogenation-cyclization process. Both C-Se and C-S bond-forming protocols were developed without using any external oxidant and the reaction was performed at room temperature, open to the air. Novel N-Benzylpyrrolidine hybrids were designed, synthesized, and tested against multiple in-vitro and in-vivo parameters. Among all the synthesized molecules, 8f and 12f showed extensive inhibition against beta-secretase1 (hBACE-1), human acetylcholinesterase (hAChE) & human butyrylcholinesterase (hBuChE). These molecules are also endowed with significant AChE-peripheral anionic site (PAS) binding capability, blood-brain barrier permeability, potential disassembly of A beta aggregates along with neuroprotection ability on SHSY-5Y cell lines. Results of the Y-Maze and Morris water maze test concluded that compounds 8f and 12f ameliorated cognitive dysfunction induced by scopolamine and A beta. The ex-vivo activity was executed on rat’s brain homogenate indicating a reduction in AChE level and oxidative stress. The pharmacokinetic investigation ascertained considerable oral absorption profile of the lead 12f. The results of the in silico docking studies and molecular dynamics simulations demonstrated stable interactions of compounds 8f and 12f with the target residues of hAChE, hBuChE and hBACE-1.

Electrocatalytic hydrodechlorination (ECH) has been proposed as a potential technology for the effective degradation of organochlorine contaminants. In this study, a nanoscale Pd/TiC catalyst with low resistance was dip-coated onto Ti, aiming to fabricate a stable Pd/TiC/Ti electrode with enhanced ECH reactivity for efficient dechlorination. Electrochemical techniques indicated that the Pd/TiC/Ti electrode had a larger electrochemically active surface area and more rapid interfacial charge transfer than the conventional Pd/C/Ti electrode. In a batch experiment, the dechlorination rate for ECH of 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid (2,4-DCBA, a model pollutant) by Pd/TiC/Ti was 1.3-14.5 times higher than those by Pd/C/Ti, Pd/MWCNTs/Ti, and Pd/MoS2/Ti, respectively. Scavenger experiments, ESR spin-trapping spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry clarified the intensified atomic H* generation by Pd/TiC/Ti. DFT calculations revealed that Pd/TiC/Ti had stronger binding ability with atomic H* (E-ads: -2.89 eV vs. -2.44 eV) and 2,4-DCBA (E-ads: -3.62 eV vs. -2.15 eV), respectively, when compared with Pd/C/Ti. As a result, enhanced generation of atomic H*, together with strengthened adsorption of atomic H* and 2,4-DCBA, would contribute to a faster ECH reaction. The Pd/TiC/Ti electrode retained its reactivity after 10 successive batch experiments (80 h), and showed high tolerance to the constituents in actual water matrices including lake water and river water. This study proposed a promising ECH electrode for the treatment of chlorinated organics in water matrices.
