Nale, Sagar D.;Datta Khanal, Hari;Rok Lee, Yong research published 《 Palladium(II)-Catalyzed Direct Arylations of Quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with Arylsulfonyl Chlorides》, the research content is summarized as follows. A palladium-catalyzed desulfitative coupling of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with arylsulfonyl chlorides is described. C3-Arylquinoxalin-2(1H)-ones are readily accessible by reacting various arylsulfonyl chloride derivatives with quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones. The arylsulfonyl chloride undergoes palladium-catalyzed C-S and S-Cl bond cleavage, which leads to direct desulfitative cross-coupling with the quinoxalin-2(H)-one. Chloro- and fluoro-aryl sulfonyl chlorides are successfully coupled with quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones without carbon-halogen bond cleavage.

Meridional tridentate N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-based pincer ligands contribute to a substantial growth in modern organometallic chem. in both homogeneous catalysis and luminescence materials. Among all NHC-based pincer ligands, the dianionic LX2-type CCC-pincer ones constitute the smallest subcategory owing to their limited ligand frameworks suitable for complexation. This work reports a 1-pot, high-yield synthesis of a homoleptic anionic all-C bis-pincer Ir(III) complex (4) directly from a bis(aryl)-substituted dipyrido-annulated (dpaAr2) imidazolium salt and [Ir(COD)Cl]2 via a cascade of deprotonation/C-H activation processes. Both exptl. complexation chem. and computational mechanistic study suggest that the large bite angle and π-rich character of the dpaAr2 NHC are responsible for its facile complexation as a dianionic LX2-type CCC-pincer ligand precursor. The all-C ligated Ir(III) complex (4) bearing a π-conjugated ligand scaffold showed remarkably low oxidation potentials, which allows future studies in its redox chem. and photophys. properties.

Mwansa, Joseph M.;Stirling, Matthew J.;Sweeney, Gemma;Hanusek, Jiri;Vana, Jiri;Page, Michael I. research published 《 Carboxamide substituted tetramethylcyclopentadiene – synthesis, characterization and its iridium(III) complex catalyzed reduction of imines》, the research content is summarized as follows. The novel dimeric iodo-iridium(III) complex, [Ir(Cp*CONMe2)I2]2, (Cp*CONMe2 = η5-N,N-2,3,4,5-hexamethylcyclopenta-2,4-diene carboxamide) bearing an amide moiety within the tetramethylcyclopentadiene ring, has been synthesized and characterized. The ligand Cp*CONMe2 is synthesized as two regioisomers, however the 2-substituted isomer exists as two distinguishable conformers due to restricted rotation about the amide carbonyl carbon and the ring carbon. The relative acidities of Cp*CONMe2 and Cp* are compared by their relative rates of H/D exchange. The iridium complex of N,N-2,3,4,5-hexamethylcyclopenta-2-4-diene carboxamide [IrCp*CONMe2] and (R,R)-1,2-diphenyl-N’-tosylethane-1,2-diamine ((R,R)-TsDPEN) has been evaluated in the transfer hydrogenation of imines under acidic conditions – a 5 : 2 molar ratio of formic acid : triethylamine as the hydride source for the transfer hydrogenation of 1-methyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline (DHIQ) and its 6,7-dimethoxy derivative in acetonitrile. A decreasing enantiomeric excess with reaction progress is attributed to different kinetic orders for formation of the two product amine enantiomers. The pseudo zero-order formation of the R-amine may be due to a pre-steady-state formation of the less stable form of the diastereomeric catalyst. By contrast, both enantiomeric amines from 1-fluorinated Me DHIQs as substrates for reduction are formed by pseudo first-order processes.

Mondal, Sanjit;Das, Soumya Ranjan;Sahoo, Lipipuspa;Dutta, Sudipta;Gautam, Ujjal K. research published 《 Light-Induced Hypoxia in Carbon Quantum Dots and Ultrahigh Photocatalytic Efficiency》, the research content is summarized as follows. Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) represent a class of carbon materials exhibiting photoresponse and many potential applications. Here, we present a unique property that dissolved CQDs capture large amounts of mol. oxygen from the air, the quantity of which can be controlled by light irradiation The O2 content can be varied between a remarkable 1 wt % of the CQDs in the dark to nearly half of it under illumination, in a reversible manner. Moreover, O2 depletion enhances away from the air-solution interface as the nearby CQDs quickly regain them from the air, creating a pronounced concentration gradient in the solution We elucidate the role of the CQD functional groups and show that excitons generated under light are responsible for their tunable adsorbed-oxygen content. Because of O2 enrichment, the photocatalytic efficiency of the CQDs toward oxidation of benzylamines in the air is the same as under oxygen flow and far higher than the existing photocatalysts. The findings should encourage the development of a new class of oxygen-enricher materials and air as a sustainable oxidant in chem. transformations.

Discovery of new anticancer drugs is one of the urgent issues in the medicinal chem. researches. Incidence of severe side effects and acquired resistance to the current medications are the logical reasons for the development of novel antineoplastic agents. Herein, a new series of 4H-1,2,4-triazole derivatives was synthesized and subsequently their cytotoxicity was assessed using dimethylthiazol diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. Furthermore, activity of caspase 3, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), and generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) were investigated. All synthesized derivatives (3a-3o) were tested against Hela (cervical cancer), A549 (lung carcinoma), and U87 (glioblastoma), and the obtained data were compared with doxorubicin. Among the chlorinated derivatives, compound 3c with para positioning of the chlorine on the Ph residue possessed higher cytotoxicity (IC50 = s3.2 ± 0.6 μM) than compounds 3a and 3b, which positioned chlorine at ortho and meta position, resp. Chlorine as electron-withdrawing moiety caused enhancement in cytotoxicity. Fortunately, most of the tested compounds showed remarkable cytotoxic activity toward applied cells, especially Hela. Activation of caspase 3, MMP reduction, and ROS generation were also observed for the studied compounds

Min, Xiang-Ting;Mei, Yong-Kang;Chen, Bing-Zhi;He, Li-Bowen;Song, Ting-Ting;Ji, Ding-Wei;Hu, Yan-Cheng;Wan, Boshun;Chen, Qing-An research published 《 Rhodium-Catalyzed Deuterated Tsuji-Wilkinson Decarbonylation of Aldehydes with Deuterium Oxide》, the research content is summarized as follows. The recent surge in the applications of deuterated drug candidates has rendered an urgent need for diverse deuterium labeling techniques. Herein, an efficient Rh-catalyzed deuterated Tsuji-Wilkinson decarbonylation of naturally available aldehydes with D2O is developed. In this reaction, D2O not only acts as a deuterated reagent and solvent but also promotes Rh-catalyzed decarbonylation. In addition, decarbonylative strategies for the synthesis of terminal monodeuterated alkenes from α,β-unsaturated aldehydes are within reach.
