A convenient electrochem. sensing pathway was investigated for neurotransmitter detection based on newly synthesized silole derivatives and laccase/horseradish-peroxidase-modified platinum (Pt)/gold (Au) electrodes. The miniature neurotransmitter’s biosensors were designed and constructed via the immobilization of laccase in an electroactive layer of the Pt electrode coated with poly(2,6-bis(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-4-methyl-4-octyl-dithienosilole) and laccase for serotonin (5-HT) detection, and a Au electrode modified with the electroconducting polymer poly(2,6-bis(selenophen-2-yl)-4-methyl-4-octyl-dithienosilole), along with horseradish peroxidase (HRP), for dopamine (DA) monitoring. These sensing arrangements utilized the catalytic oxidation of neurotransmitters to reactive quinone derivatives (the oxidation process was provided in the enzymes’ presence). Under the optimized conditions, the anal. performance demonstrated a convenient degree of sensitivity: 0.0369 and 0.0256μA mM-1 cm-2, selectivity in a broad linear range (0.1-200) x 10-6 M with detection limits of ≈48 and ≈73 nM (for the serotonin and dopamine biosensors, resp.). Moreover, the method was successfully applied for neurotransmitter determination in the presence of interfering compounds (ascorbic acid, L-cysteine, and uric acid).

Further optimization of these analogs may identify addnl. and more potent and selective compounds targeting S1PR2.

Near-IR (NIR) light-activated phototherapy, such as photothermal therapy (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT), has gained considerable attention due to the advantages of high efficiency and minimally invasiveness. However, the development of a single component therapeutic agent with clear structure and mol. weight that achieve photodynamic/photothermal synergistic therapy is still challenging. Herein, we design and synthesize a new smart photosensitizer (PRX) by conjugation of perylene diimide (PDI) and methylene violet (RAX). The typical donor-acceptor (D-A) structure of RAX facilitates the red-shift of absorption to the near-IR (NIR) region. The amphiphilic PRX could self-assemble into monodispersed nanoparticles (PRX NPs) with enhanced and broadened absorption. Under a single 808 nm laser irradiation, PRX NPs could generate efficient reactive oxygen species (ROS) and heat simultaneously with the photothermal conversion efficiency as high as 59%. PRX NPs displays strong interaction with DNA and can damage plasmid DNA upon light irradiation The biocompatibility and high phototoxicity of PRX NPs against A549 cells are further confirmed through MTT assay. Therefore, the as-prepared PRX NPs could be served as a promising antitumor nanoagent through photothermal/photodynamic combination manner.

Silica nanoparticles (SiO2 NPs) were prepared and functionalized with polyethylene (PE@SiO2 NPs) using the surface-initiated polyhomologation (SI-polyhomologation) technique. Polyolefin nanocomposites were fabricated later by melt mixing of different ratios of the as-prepared SiO2 NPs and PE@SiO2 NPs with linear low-d. polyethylene (LLDPE) and low-d. polyethylene (LDPE) matrixes. Firstly, SiO2 NPs were modified with different alkoxysilane ligands, dichloro(divinyl)silane (DCDVS), allyl trimethoxysilane (ATMS), and vinyl triethoxylsilane (VTES). Subsequently, thexylborane, an initiator for SI-polyhomologation, was immobilized to the modified surface of SiO2NPs through hydroboration reactions. Polyhomologation was then allowed to proceed by adding monomer solution to form polyethylene brushes covalently bonded to the surface of the NPs. Physiochem. characterizations had confirmed the morphol., chem. structure, and thermal stability for each step of modification reactions. LLDPE and LDPE nanocomposites were prepared by extrusion with SiO2 NPs and PE@SiO2 NPs as nanofillers. Finally, tensile tests and morphol. SEM-based analyses are presented to discuss the influence of the grafted PE on both the dispersion of the fillers and the mech. properties of the filler/matrix interphase.

The electroreduction of organo-substituted dichlorosilanes, Me2SiCl2, MeEtSiCl2, MePrSiCl2, MeHexSiCl2, Me(c-Hex)SiCl2, MePhSiCl2, and Ph2SiCl2 in THF, is reported. A 2-step reduction scheme (E1: RR’SiCl2 ⇌ [RR’SiCl2]•- and E2: [RR’SiCl2]•- ⇌ [RR’SiCl2]2-) is suggested in which the redox potentials E1 and E2 are separated by ∼110 mV. A simulation of the irreversible voltammograms indicates multiple pathways in producing silyl anion, among them the decomposition of dianion and/or the disproportionation of silyl anion radicals, which is further corroborated by low-temperature cyclic voltammetric measurements. Subsequently, silyl anion undergoes SN2 nucleophilic attack on another chlorosilane mol. to form Si-Si bonds. Taft substituent constants were applied and proved effective in correlating the substituent effect on the reduction of dichlorosilanes. For dialkyl-substituted chlorosilanes, the Taft anal. of the polar contribution of substituents to the cathodic peak shift gives a pos. ρ*∼2.4, which indicates an SN2 nucleophilic reaction in the formation of silyl dianion intermediate. The steric effect of substituents, however, is largely responsible for the stability of the SN2 transition state.

Here we report a general method that establishes C-F tertiary benzylic stereocenters by forging a C-C bond via a Pd-catalyzed enantioselective Heck reaction of acyclic alkenyl fluorides with arylboronic acids. This method provides a platform to rapidly incorporate significant functionality about the benzylic tertiary fluoride by virtue of the diversity of both reaction partners, as well as the ability to install the stereocenters remotely from pre-existing functional groups.

For diamondback moth II [R5 = Me; X = Br], [R5 = i-Pr; X = Br], [R5 = Me; X = Cl] and [R5 = i-Pr; X = Cl] exhibited higher insecticidal activities than chlorantraniliprole. In particular, In had 50% larvicidal activity at 0.00001 mg/L. Calcium imaging technique was applied to study the effect of I [R = N; R4 = H; R5 = Me] and II [R5 = Me; X = Br, Cl] on the intracellular calcium ion concentration ([Ca2+]i) in central neurons isolated from oriental armyworm. The results indicated that the tested compoundsI and II, like chlorantraniliprole was activate the insect ryanodine receptors. Furthermore, comparative mol. field (CoMFA) anal. and d. functional theory (DFT) calculations were carried out to study the structure-activity relationship (SAR).
