Journal of Polymer Science published new progress about 1002-41-1. 1002-41-1 belongs to chlorides-buliding-blocks, auxiliary class Aliphatic Chain, name is 1,2-Bis(2-chloroethyl)disulfane, and the molecular formula is C4H8Cl2S2, Recommanded Product: 1,2-Bis(2-chloroethyl)disulfane.

Pierson, R. M. published the artcileBis-type modifiers in polymerization. I. Behavior of various disulfides in bulk styrene polymerization, Recommanded Product: 1,2-Bis(2-chloroethyl)disulfane, the publication is Journal of Polymer Science (1955), 221-46, database is CAplus.

Studies were made of the effectiveness in low-conversion bulk styrene polymerizations of the modifiers, bis(2-ethylhexyl) disulfide, dibenzyl disulfide, bis(chlorobenzyl) disulfide, bis[2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl] disulfide, bis(2-chloroethyl)disulfide, bis(2-hydroxyethyl)disulfide, dithiodiacetic acid, esters of bis(2-carboxyethyl)disulfide, bis(2-chloroacetoxyethyl) disulfide, diphenyl disulfide, di-ο-tolyl disulfide, bis(2,6-xylyl) disulfide, bis(2,3,5,6-tetramethylphenyl) disulfide, bis(4-carboxyphenyl) disulfide, bis(4-carbethoxyphenyl) disulfide, bis(4-hydroxymethylphenyl)disulfide, bis(2-chloromethylphenyl) disulfide, bis(2-bromomethylphenyl)disulfide, bis(2-aminophenyl) disulfide, di-2-naphthyl disulfide, di-2-benzothiazolyl disulfide, bis(isopropylxanthogen) disulfide, 4,4′-dithiodimorpholine disulfide, carbonylbis(thioglycolic acid), thiocarbonylbis(thioglycolic acid), and tetraphenylhydrazine. Alkyl disulfides, even when substituted at C’s near the SS bond, had very low transfer constants The transfer constants of aryl disulfides were much higher and could be increased by substitutions, thereby incorporating desired groups into the polymer. They cleave to give one half the mol. to each end of the polymer as was shown by comparing end-group concentrations of styrene polymers containing various types of end groups with polymers modified by thiols containing similar groups.
