The electronic absorption spectrum of 2-fluoro-4-chlorotoluene vapor has been studied in the near-uv region and the assignments for the observed bands have been made assuming Cs symmetry for the mol. The strongest band at 36,517 cm-1 has been assigned as the (0,0) band and the bands have been analyzed in terms of 3 ground-state (150, 217, and 253 cm-1) and 9 excited-state (347, 491, 560, 711, 768, 933, 1012, 1054, and 1199 cm-1) frequencies.
