Thus, Me2CHCHBrCO2H was treated with SOCl2 to give the acid chloride, which was esterified with m-(PhO)C6H4CH2OH to give the ester, which was treated with p-toluidine to give valine II. II gave a LC50 <0.01% when tested as an insecticide against Musca domestica L.
