The redox potential gap between arylsulfonium salts and [Me4N][SeCF3] has been clearly revealed by CV measurements. Construction of the carbon-selenium bond by overcoming this gap without using catalysts and additives is a challenging task. Here, the authors report an efficient visible-light-induced cross-coupling of arylsulfonium triflates, e.g., 5-[4-(4-cyanophenoxy)phenyl]-5H-thianthren-5-ium triflate, with [Me4N][SeCF3] by simply mixing these two species, which allowed the facile synthesis of various aryl trifluoromethyl selenoethers, e.g., ArSeCF3 (Ar = 2-formyl-4-methoxyphenyl, N-methylcarbazol-6-yl, benzodioxol-5-yl, etc.) under catalyst- and additive-free conditions. The mechanistic study indicated that aryl and SeCF3 radicals might be formed as key intermediates in the reactions. Merits of the reactions include operational simplicity, high efficiency, visible-light irradiation, good functional group tolerance, a wide range of substrates, excellent chemoselectivity, and good yields of (trifluoromethyl)selenolated products, which combined with a sulfenylation process enabled the selective and practical installation of SeCF3 moieties onto complex arenes, including drug mols., via a formal C-H functionalization.

The result displayed that diarylethene can well perform photoisomerization, but no obvious intramol. proton transfer was observed Furthermore, we checked the effects of metal cations for the properties of N-salicylideneaniline-based diarylethene, which indicated that Cu2+ and Fe3+ cations can significantly affect the UV/visible absorption spectra of diarylethene ring-open and ring-closed isomers.

A series of isatin derivatives containing 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives I [R = 2-F, 3-CN, 4-Cl, etc.] were designed and synthesized. All newly synthesized compounds I were evaluated for their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity with resveratrol as pos. control in-vitro. Except for compounds I [R = 2-CN, 3-CN], all of the compounds I showed a potent inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase with IC50 values in the range of 3.12 ± 1.25 to 45.95 ± 1.26μM and the purity of these compounds were greater than 95%. The IC50 values were being compared to the standard resveratrol (IC50 = 22.00 ± 1.15μM) and it was found that compounds I [R = H, 2-F, 2-Cl, 3-Cl, 4-Cl, 2-Br] were found to be more active than resveratrol. Specifically,I [R = 4-Cl] exhibited the most potent α-glucosidase inhibitory activity with IC50 value of 3.12 ± 1.25μM. The kinetic anal. revealed that compound I [R = 4-Cl] was noncompetitive inhibitor. Structure activity relationship was established for all compounds I. Furthermore, the binding interactions of compound I [R = 4-Cl] with the active site of α-glucosidase were confirmed through mol. docking. This study was identified a new class of potent α-glucosidase inhibitors for further investigation.

The challenge arises from the unique elongated linear configuration of the allenyl radicals that necessitates the stereo-differentiation of remote motifs away from the radical reaction site. We herein describe a copper-catalyzed asym. radical 1,4-carboalkynylation of 1,3-enynes via the coupling of allenyl radicals with terminal alkynes, providing diverse synthetically challenging tetrasubstituted chiral allenes. A chiral N,N,P-ligand is crucial for both the reaction initiation and the enantiocontrol over the highly reactive allenyl radicals. The reaction features a broad substrate scope, covering a variety of (hetero)aryl and alkyl alkynes and 1,3-enynes as well as radical precursors with excellent functional group tolerance.

The contribution of field/inductive effect and conjugative effect of a group to the push-pull effect is unequal. When the D-π-A parent mol. is in a plane, the influence of field/inductive effect of a group on the push-pull effect is greater than or close to that of its conjugative effect does. Although the parent mol. is sterically twisted, the push-pull effect is mainly dependent on the conjugative effect of a group. The results of this paper can provide us a new insight into the push-pull effect of substituents.
