The influence of the phase volume ratio, system concentration, water content in the DESs, equilibrium temperature, and pH of the phosphate buffer solution was investigated through single-factor experiments Under optimal conditions, maximum extraction efficiencies were observed for GPA in the top phase (EGPA = 94.59%) and AU in the bottom phase (EAU = 80.41%). Further, d. functional theory calculations indicated that H-bond interaction was the main factor influencing the selective separation of GPA and AU. Cr(VI)-contaminated water poses a serious threat to the environment. In addition, the AFCCs and adsorption-reduction mechanism of Cr(VI) were characterized by digital photog., electron microscope, zeta potential, Fourier-transform IR spectroscopy (FT-IR) and XPS. The results indicated that the electrostatic attraction between quaternary amine groups in Aliquat-336 and Cr(VI) anions plays a major role in the removal of Cr(VI). Subsequently, the adsorbed Cr(VI) obtained electrons from C-C/C-H and -NH+3/-NH+2- were reduced to Cr(III), while C-C/C-H and -NH+3/-NH+2- were oxidized to C-O, C=O, =NH+-, =N- and N-O, resp. Herein, three new tropolone-based UV absorbers (UVA-1C, UVA-4C and UVA-6C) were rationally designed and blended into PBAT. The PBAT/UVA films that formed were used against UV aging and prolonged the functional period of PBAT film. The three new absorbers were synthesized by bridging two tropolones using three different organic chains with different flexibility. Among them, the UVA-6C showed the strongest UV absorbance at around 238 nm and 320 nm. Consequently, the PBAT/UVA-6C film showed an extended validity period of 240 h in the Xenon lamp aging machine and a prolonged functional period of 8 d during the field application test when compared to pure PBAT. More importantly, a 7.8% increase in the maize yield was obtained under PBAT/UVA-6C film relative to pure PBAT film. Obviously, the novel prepared UVA-6C compound is a good candidate for UV absorption in PBAT, which makes PBAT/UVA-6C film more advantageous over pure PBAT in practical applications as biodegradable agricultural film. The sizes of Pd150-PCRP NPs, Pd225-PCRP NPs, and Pd300-PCRP NPs were 2.10 ± 0.62 nm, 2.48 ± 0.62 nm, and 2.63 ± 0.62 nm, resp. Pd150-PCRP NPs exhibited excellent biocompatibility based on the MTT assay. Moreover, Pd150-PCRP NPs oxidized the colorless peroxidase substrates 3,3′,5,5′ -tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to its corresponding blue product in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. More importantly, Pd150-PCRP NPs were used in the colorimetric detection of glutathione. The detection range of colorimetric detection with Pd150-PCRP NPs reached 2-300μM and the detection limit was 1.65μM. The recovery rate of glutathione in serum samples was as high as 103.60%. Overall, these results demonstrated that Pd150-PCRP NPs had good biocompatibility, peroxidase-like activity and ability of glutathione detection. Pd150-PCRP NPs could serve as a safe and promising agent for sensitive detection of glutathione in future applications. The surface tension of the NaPSS/BAC complex is lower than that of pure BAC surfactant. The surface tension of these complexes showed significant decrease with increasing temperatures and the surface excess entropy was deduced from these measurements. Addition of ionic salts enhanced the association of the polyelectrolyte/surfactant mixture but had little effect on the polyelectrolytes coacervate. The iodide recycling enzyme, iodotyrosine deiodinase (IYD), is a largely unstudied mol. mechanism through which environmental chems. can potentially cause thyroid disruption. This highly conserved enzyme plays an essential role in maintaining adequate levels of free iodide for thyroid hormone synthesis. Thyroid disruption following in vivo IYD inhibition has been documented in mammalian and amphibian models; however, few chems. have been tested for IYD inhibition in either in vivo or in vitro assays. Presented here are the development and application of a screening assay to assess susceptibility of IYD to chem. inhibition. With recombinant human IYD enzyme, a 96-well plate in vitro assay was developed and then used to screen over 1800 unique substances from the U. S. EPA ToxCast screening library. Through a tiered screening approach, 194 IYD inhibitors were identified (inhibited IYD enzyme activity by 20% or greater at target concentration of 200μM). 154 chems. were further tested in concentration-response (0.032-200μM) to determine IC50 and rank-order potency. This work broadens the coverage of thyroid-relevant mol. targets for chem. screening, provides the largest set of chems. tested for IYD inhibition, and aids in prioritizing chems. for targeted in vivo testing to evaluate thyroid-related adverse outcomes.
