The extraction behavior of Ir(IV) in a phosphonium-based ionic liquid (IL) system, triethyl-n-pentyl phosphonium bis(trifluoromethyl-sulfonyl)amide ([P2225][NTf2]), was studied using an amine extractant. The electrochem. behavior of the extracted Ir(IV) species in [P2225][NTf2] during electrodeposition was studied. Voltammetry-based electrochem. anal. revealed that the reduction of Ir(IV) proceeded via an intermediate Ir(III) species in two steps, namely, Ir(IV) + e- → Ir(III) and Ir(III) + 3e- → Ir(0). Diffusion coefficients of the extracted Ir(IV) species in the IL were determined at 298-373 K using semi-integral and semi-differential analyses, and values obtained from the two analyses were consistent with each other. Also, consecutive solvent extraction and electrodeposition of Ir metal in the IL bath were performed for 10 cycles. The entire Ir electrodeposit was in the metallic state, as is evident from the 4f7/2 spectrum obtained by XPS. This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as N-Methyl-N,N-dioctyloctan-1-aminium chloride (cas: 5137-55-3SDS of cas: 5137-55-3).

A novel cyclohexane derivatized soybean oil (CSO) is synthesized by Diels-Alder cycloaddition of soybean oil with isoprene. Then, the epoxidized cycloaliphatic soybean oil (ECSO) is prepared via epoxidation of CSO. For comparison purpose, norbornylized soybean oil (NSO) and epoxy norbornane soybean oil (ENSO) are synthesized. The CSO, ECSO, NSO, and ENSO are characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, gradient heteronuclear single quantum correlation (gHSQC) 2D NMR, and mass spectroscopy. The epoxidized soybean oil (ESO), ECSO, and ENSO are photopolymerized using UV-light, and the kinetics of the photocuring reactions is evaluated by real-time Fourier transform IR (FT-IR) and photo-differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Real-time FT-IR and photo-DSC indicate the improved reactivity of ECSO and ENSO compared to ESO. It is found that the curing rate and final conversion of novel developed ECSO is higher than ESO, but lower than ENSO. The global disruption caused by the 2020 coronavirus pandemic stressed the supply chain of many products, including pharmaceuticals. Multiple drug repurposing studies for COVID-19 are now underway. If a winning therapeutic emerges, it is unlikely that the existing inventory of the medicine, or even the chem. raw materials needed to synthesize it, will be available in the quantities required. Here, we utilize retrosynthetic software to arrive at alternate chem. supply chains for the antiviral drug umifenovir, as well as eleven other antiviral and anti-inflammatory drugs. We have exptl. validated four routes to umifenovir and one route to bromhexine. In one route to umifenovir the software invokes conversion of six C-H bonds into C-C bonds or functional groups. The strategy we apply of excluding known starting materials from search results can be used to identify distinct starting materials, for instance to relieve stress on existing supply chains. CaF2 nanocrystals doped with Yb3+, Tb3+ and Li+ ions were investigated to study the correlation between their structural, electronic and up-conversion emission properties. The role of interstitial and substitutional Li+ ions in enhancing the up-conversion intensities were discussed. Evidence of Li+ at both interstitial and substitutional sites was provided by X-ray diffraction and XPS. The diffuse reflection spectra confirmed that the dopants were successfully incorporated. Up-conversion emission spectra under 980 nm excitation wavelength revealed the vital role of Li+ ions in enhancing both blue and green emission. The results reported during this investigation are expected to provide better understanding of the mechanism involved in enhancing the up-conversion emission in many Yb3+-Tb3+ co-doped fluoride materials due to Li+ ions doping. Ion sieving is essential for biol. systems and membrane-based applications. At present, metal-organic framework (MOF) membranes are of great interest for use in ion separation, but it remains a great challenge to design high quality MOF membranes with a simple preparation process and desirable ion selectivity. Herein we fabricate a MOF composite membrane, containing highly penetrated ZIF-8 channels. The ZIF-8 channels are the dominant pathways for ion transport and display a good Li+/Mg2+ sieving performance (Li+/Mg2+ = 6.1). The simulation reveals that the Li+/Mg2+ selectivity is associated with the significant disparity of transport energy barrier between them, which is caused by the different extent of ion dehydration in angstrom-scale ZIF-8 channels. This work provides an effective strategy to develop ionic sieving membranes based on penetrating MOF channels for lithium extraction This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as Lithium chloride (cas: 7447-41-8Quality Control of Lithium chloride).

The effect is investigated of organic structure-directing agents (OSDAs) on the formation rates of all-silica zeolite LTA using both simulations and experiments, to shed light on the crystallization process. Syntheses are compared using one OSDA with a diameter close to the size of the large cavity in LTA and two OSDAs of diameters matching the sizes of both the small and large LTA cavities. Reaction-ensemble Monte Carlo (RxMC) simulations predict a speed up of LTA formation using two OSDAs matching the LTA pore sizes; this qual. result is confirmed by exptl. studies of crystallization kinetics, which find a speedup in all-silica LTA crystallization of a factor of 3. Analyses of simulated rings and their Si-O-Si angular energies during RxMC crystallizations show that all ring sizes in the faster crystallization exhibit lower angular energies, on average, than in the slower crystallization, explaining the origin of the speedup through packing effects. In the present study, novel ionic liquid-impregnated chitosan hydrogel beads (CS-TCMA) were fabricated via the reaction of tricaprylmethylammonium chloride (TCMA, Aliquat-336) with the chitosan’s amino groups. They were used for the fast adsorption of Tetracycline (TC), as a pharmaceutical compound model, from aqueous solution It was found that the impregnation of TCMA greatly improved the adsorption behavior of chitosan toward TC. The optimum adsorbent was determined to be 3 mg/ L in a wide pH range of 5-11. It was a fast process, with a 90% removal efficiency in <45 min. The adsorption kinetic of TC on the CS-TCMA was well described by the pseudo-first-order model and intra-particle diffusion model. The adsorption also obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model and the maximum adsorption capacity obtained was 22.42 mg/g at 45°C. Organic getters are often introduced into sealed systems to remove the excessive reactive hydrogen gas. In this work, the formable graphene aerogel hydrogen getters are prepared by integrating the alkyne-containing mols.(e.g., DEB) into the palladium-loaded three-dimensional layered porous graphene aerogel (Pd-GA). The performance of Pd-GA/DEB composite materials in reducing reactive hydrogen gas is examined at pressures of 0.1-1 bar at a temperature of 25°C, and the hydrogen consumption is measured as a function of time. Suggest that the hydrogen uptake capability of Pd-GA/DEB getters increases with the loading of Pd particles on the GA and the content of Pd0. The highest hydrogen absorption capacity is up to 215.5 cm3/g, and the hydrogenation rate of DEB mols. is 89.3%.
