Herein, a nickel-catalyzed cross-electrophile ring-opening reaction of vinyl epoxides I (R1 = Ph, 1-naphthyl, benzodioxol-5-yl, etc.; R2 = H, Me, phenyl; R3 = H, Ph, furan-2-yl, thiophen-2-yl) was reported, wherein aryl iodides, alkyl iodides, and benzyl chlorides R4X (R4 = Pr, cyclohexyl, phenyl; X = I, Cl) can all serve as the electrophilic coupling partners, providing a new approach to preparing multisubstituted allylic alcs. R1C(CH(OH)R3)=C(R2)CH2R4.
