In this paper, synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles applied as catalyst in photodegradation of Direct Red 23 (DR23) dye using photo-Fenton process in aqueous solution. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Design of experiments (DOE) based on Taguchi approach was used. Analysis the response of each experiment was based Signal to Noise (S/N) ratio was calculated. The effective parameters for the degradation of dye were determined and optimized using Taguchi (L-9 (3(4))) orthogonal array experimental design method with four factors having three levels for each factor. The Taguchi approach showed that pH 3 (level 1), catalyst amount = 25 mg/L (level 2), H2O2 concentration = 15 ppm (level 3), and temperature = 35 degrees C (level 3) was optimum conditions for this process. The factor most influencing the process was determined using analysis of variance (ANOVA) method. The most significant factor in this process was pH. The interaction between pH x catalyst amount was the most influencing interaction. The percent (p (%)) of each factor on the degradation of dye was found to be in the following the order: pH (50.306%), catalyst amount (6.887%), H2O2 concentration (39.272%), and temperature (3.456%). The percentage contribution of factors in this process was found to be in the following the order: pH (0.332), catalyst amount (0.101), H2O2 concentration (0.291), and temperature (0.082). So first order reaction with k = 0.0472 min(-1) was observed for the photocatalytic degradation reaction.

A protocol for solvent-free and additive-free oxidation of primary benzylic C-H bonds with O(2)was presented through adjusting the combination of metalloporphyrins and NHPI as binary catalysts to overcome the deficiencies encountered in current oxidation systems. The effects of reaction temperature, porphyrin structure, central metal, catalyst loading and O(2)pressure were investigated systematically. For the optimized combination of T(2-OCH3)PPCo and NHPI, all the primary benzylic C-H bonds could be functionalized efficiently and selectively at 120 degrees C and 1.0 MPa O(2)with aromatic acids as the primary products. The selectivity towards aromatic acids could reach up to 70-95% in the conversion of more than 30% for most of the substrates possessing primary benzylic C-H bonds in the metalloporphyrin loading of 0.012% (mol/mol). And the superior performance of T(2-OCH3)PPCo among the metalloporphyrins investigated was mainly attributed to its high efficiency in charge transfer and fewer positive charges around central metal Co (II) which favored the adduction of O-2 to cobalt (II) forming the high-valence metal-oxo complex followed by the production of phthalimide N-oxyl radical (PINO) and the initiation of the catalytic oxidation cycle. This work would provide not only an efficient protocol in utilization of hydrocarbons containing primary benzylic C-H bonds, but also a significant reference in the construction of more efficient C-H bonds oxidation systems Graphic Abstract The solvent-free and additive-free oxidation of primary benzylic C-H bonds with O(2)was presented through adjusting the combination of metalloporphyrins and NHPI as binary catalysts, and the highest selectivity towards aromatic acid reached up to 95.1% with the conversion of 88.5% in the optimized combination of T(2-OCH3)PPCo and NHPI. Objective A growing body of evidence suggests that testing for influenza virus alone is more appropriate than multiplex respiratory viral panel (RVP) testing for general populations of patients with respiratory tract infections. We aimed to decrease the proportion of RVPs out of total respiratory viral testing ordered during influenza season. Methods We implemented two consecutive interventions: reflex testing for RVPs only after a negative influenza test, and noninterruptive clinical decision support (CDS) including modifications of the computerized physician order entry search behavior and cost display. We conducted an interrupted time series of RVPs and influenza polymerase chain reaction tests pre- and postintervention, and performed a mixed-effects logistic regression analysis with a primary outcome of proportion of RVPs out of total respiratory viral tests. The primary predictor was the intervention period, and covariates included the provider, clinical setting, associated diagnoses, and influenza incidence. Results From March 2013 to April 2019, there were 24,294 RVPs and 26,012 influenza tests ( n = 50,306). Odds of ordering an RVP decreased during the reflex testing period (odds ratio: 0.432, 95% confidence interval: 0.397-0.469), and decreased more dramatically during the noninterruptive CDS period (odds ratio: 0.291, 95% confidence interval: 0.259-0.327). Discussion The odds of ordering an RVP were 71% less with the noninterruptive CDS intervention, which projected 4,773 fewer RVPs compared with baseline. Assuming a cost equal to Medicare reimbursement rates for RVPs and influenza tests, this would generate an estimated averted cost of $1,259,474 per year. Conclusion Noninterruptive CDS interventions are effective in reducing unnecessary and expensive testing, and avoid typical pitfalls such as alert fatigue.

The current report represents a transition-metal-free synthesis of oxazoline and isoxazoline derivatives by a tandem electro-oxidative chalcogenation-cyclization process. Both C-Se and C-S bond-forming protocols were developed without using any external oxidant and the reaction was performed at room temperature, open to the air. Using this methodology, 29 substituted oxazoline and 16 substituted isoxazoline derivatives were synthesized with up to 91% isolated yield.

Chloroaluminate ionic liquids (ILs) have been immensely used as homogeneous catalyst in Friedel-Crafts reaction. We have recently synthesized chloroaluminate ILs by reacting aluminium chloride with a hydrophobic neutral ligand i.e. tributylamine (TBA:AlCl3). The current study elaborates on the investigations of the composition of the ionic liquids at various stages of their formation. The ionic liquids were synthesized using various mole ratios of tributyl amine and aluminium chloride in range of 1:1 to 1:2.3, in presence of an aromatic solvent in a one pot reaction. Various characterization techniques like Mass spectrometry, Al-27 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, P-31 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy were used to elucidate the formation of various moieties of the TBA:AlCl3 Ionic Liquid. This study also elaborates on the investigations of the cationic and anionic moieties and their structure-property relationship for various applications. Various Friedel-Crafts reaction of industrial importance were performed using the ionic liquid having (Al2Cl7)(-) moiety to assess its performance and compared with conventional processes. The synthesized products were characterised by sophisticated analytical techniques like H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, FTIR, GC-MS, GC-FID, to name a few. This class of ionic liquids also have importance in various electrochemical applications like aluminium deposition and aluminium batteries. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Tracing the herbicide bixlozone and its metabolites in food is necessary to assess their risks to human health. In the study, a rapid and effective analytical method using the quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe method for the simultaneous determination of bixlozone and its metabolites (2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid, 3-hydroxy-propanamide-bixlozone, and 5 ‘-hydroxy-bixlozone) in plant and animal samples (tomato, cucumber, apple, wheat flour, meat, milk, and egg) was developed based on ultra high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The method was validated based on the linearity (R-2 > 0.99), sensitivity (limit of quantification = 0.01 mg/kg), recovery (70.2-115.1%), and precision (intraday 1.2-17.6%, interday 0.3-16.0%). Detection was achieved within 6.0 min. The method is reliable for the determination of four target compounds in all seven matrices. The satisfactory validation criteria and successful application show that the proposed methodology is suitable for the detection of four target compounds in real matrices.

A series of new triazole ligands has been synthesized via copper-catalyzed cycloaddition reaction of readily available azides and alkynes. The synthesized compounds were characterized by FTIR, H-1 and C-13 NMR, and high-resolution mass spectra. The ligands provided excellent yields (up to 92%) in the palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling of unactivated aryl chlorides with phenylboronic acid. 1-Benzyl-4-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-lH-1,2,3-triazole was found to be the most effective ligand due to the presence of electron-donating 2,6-dimethoxyphenyl substituent, which made it possible to develop a highly active ligand-catalyst system for the Suzuki reaction of aryl chlorides.
