An environmentally benign, one-pot diazotization and coupling reaction using ChCl: tartaric acid DES at room temperature is described. The bulky tartrate ion renders stability to the diazonium salt at room temperature, also evidenced by H-1 NMR. The isolated diazonium salt is stable and active even after 192 h at room temperature.

A highly efficient palladium-free homogeneous catalyst involving Ni(acac)(2)/2,6-bis(diphenylphosphino) pyridine ((Ph2P)(2)py)/CuI components was used for the Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction. The Sonogashira reaction was investigated between phenylacetylene and various bromoand chloroarenes containing electron neutral, electron-rich, electron-poor, electron-deficient, and sterically hindered aryl fragments. The aryl alkynes coupling products were obtained with good to excellent yields at the optimized conditions using Ni(acac)(2) (0.3 mol%)/(Ph2P)(2)py (0.6 mol%)/CuI (0.03 mol%) as the catalyst, tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as the additive, Et3N as the base in DMF at 100 degrees C under N-2 atmosphere.

Disposable sanitary pads are a necessity for women’s health, but safety concerns regarding the use of these products have created anxiety. The aim of this study was to conduct a risk assessment of 74 volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which were expected to be contained within sanitary pads. Of the 74 VOCs, 50 were found in sanitary pads retailed in Korea at concentrations ranging from 0.025 to 3548.09 mu g/pad. In order to undertake a risk assessment of the VOCs, the toxicological database of these compounds in the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), National Toxicology Program (NTP) and World Health Organization (WHO) was searched. Ethanol was found to exhibit the highest reference dose (RfD) while 1,2-dibromo-3-chloro-propane displayed the lowest RfD. Consequently, a worst-case exposure scenario was applied in this study. It was assumed that there was the use of 7.5 sanitary napkins/day for 7 days/month. In the case of panty liners or overnight sanitary napkins, the utilization of 90 panty liners/month or 21 overnight sanitary napkins/month was assumed, respectively. In addition, 43 kg, the body weight of 12 to 13-year-old young women, and 100% VOCs skin absorption were employed for risk assessment. The systemic exposure dose (SED) values were calculated ranging from 1.74 (1,1,2-trichloroethane) ng/kg/day to 144.4 (ethanol, absolute) mu g/kg/day. Uncertainty factors (UFs) were applied ranging from 10 to 100,000 in accordance with the robustness of animal or human experiments. The margin of exposure (MOE) of 34 VOCs was more than 1 (acceptable MOE > 1). Applicable carcinogenic references reported that the cancer risk of five VOCs was below 10(-6). Based on our findings, evidence indicates that the non-cancer and cancer risks associated with VOCs detected in sanitary pads currently used in South Korea do not pose an adverse health risk in women.

SRC is a major regulator of many signaling pathways and contributes to cancer development. However, development of a selective SRC inhibitor has been challenging, and FDA-approved SRC inhibitors, dasatinib and bosutinib, are multitargeted kinase inhibitors. Here, we describe our efforts to develop a selective SRC covalent inhibitor by targeting cysteine 277 on the P-loop of SRC. Using a promiscuous covalent kinase inhibitor (CKI) SM1-71 as a starting point, we developed covalent inhibitor 15a, which discriminates SRC from other covalent targets of SM1-71 including TAK1 and FGFR1. As an irreversible covalent inhibitor, compound 15a exhibited sustained inhibition of SRC signaling both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, 15a exhibited potent antiproliferative effects in nonsmall cell lung cancer cell lines harboring SRC activation, thus providing evidence that this approach may be promising for further drug development efforts.

A porous cross-linked poly (ethyleneamine)-polysulfonamide (PEA-PSA) as a novel organic support system is synthesized in the presence of silica template by nanocasting technique. The paper demonstrates immobilization of CuI nanoparticles inside the pores (PEA-PSA@CuI) for the facile recovery and recycling of these nanoparticles. The presence of porous PEA-PSA and PEA-PSA@CuI nanocomposites was confirmed using FT-IR spectroscopy, FE-SEM, EDX, TGA, XRD, TEM, BET, XPS, WDX, H-1 NMR, and ICP-OES techniques. The PEA-PSA@CuI along with Ag(I)/K2S2O8 was implemented as a reusable cooperative catalyst-oxidant system in the N-arylation of p-toluenesulfonamide with substituted carboxylic acids in mild condition. So, the novel decarboxylative cross-coupling catalyzed by copper and silver has been developed. Aromatic, secondary and tertiary aliphatic acids underwent high efficient decarboxylative processes with p-toluenesulfonamide to afford the corresponding products. This method provides a practical approach for the flexible synthesis of sulfonamides from the readily affordable substrates. The catalyst is highly reusable and efficient, especially in terms of time and yield of the desired product.

In the present study, we have synthesized a series of fifteen nipecotic acid 1,3,4-oxadiazole based hybrids with significant (60-78%) yields. All the compounds were characterized by using different spectroanalytical techniques such as FT-IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, and elemental analysis. This design strategy was validated by using in vivo anti-epileptic and anti-depressant bioassay models. Anti-convulsant activity was evaluated using subcutaneous pentylenetetrazol (scPTZ) in mice and MES induced seizure. Among a spectrum of activities, three compounds (4i, 4m, and 4n) displayed significant activity against pentylenetetrazole (scPTZ) induced seizures. No disruptions in motor co-ordination were observed in mice pretreated with the test compounds in the rotarod test. Their influence on the safety profile of elevated serum levels of biochemical markers such as hepatic and renal toxicity has been found to be safe. The derivatives also show marked anti-depressant activity, devoid of serotonergic augmentation as assessed using the despair swim test, 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP)-induced head twitch test and learned helplessness test. In silico docking studies targeted on homology modelled GABA transporter 1 (GAT1) protein shows the critical enzyme-ligand interactions leading to the inhibition of the GAT1 transporter. In this work, we present a facile method for anchoring a transition metal catalyst (Pd(PPh3)(4)) into hollow porous organic nanospheres (H-PONs) based on a co-hyper-crosslinking mediated self-assembly strategy by using polylactide-b-polystyrene (PLA-b-PS) and Pd(PPh3)(4) as precursors. The intrinsic catalytic activity of Pd(PPh3)(4) could be well retained even if immobilized into H-PONs through a one-step Scholl reaction. Owing to the hierarchically porous structure, high surface area and well-dispersed active sites, the resulting H-PONs-Pd(PPh3)(4) exhibited excellent catalytic activity, enhanced stability, and good recyclability for the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling in aqueous media. We hope that such a facile synthesis approach can provide a broad platform to support various transition metal catalysts anchored into hollow porous nanomaterials for the heterogeneous catalysis field.

These compounds have been found to be conveniently accessible from benzoic acids via Rh-catalyzed electrooxidative C-H/C-H couplings, giving valuable dihydrogen as the byproduct. In an undivided cell with Pt electrodes, RhCl3 center dot 3H(2)O catalyzes the oxidative carboxylate-directed ortho-homocoupling of various aromatic acids with a current efficiency of 67%. The heterocyclic compound 2-amino-N-(2-chloro-6-methylphenyl)thiazole-5-carboxamide (1), designed using 2-chloro-6-methylaniline (2) as the start material, was successfully obtained via multiple synthesis route and finally characterized by IR, H-1 NMR, and single-cystal X-ray crystallography. To select the suitable candidates for tissue regeneration, the induction activity of the compound on the dental pulp mesenchymal stem cells (DP-MSCs) was evaluated.
