Disclosed herein is a photochemical Heck-type arylation of vinylphenols with non-activated aryl and heteroaryl halides under visible light irradiation. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggested that the colored vinylphenolate anions acted as a strong reducing photoactivator to directly activate (hetero)aryl halides without the need for any sacrificial reductants. The photochemically generated aryl radicals coupled with another molecule of vinylphenol to afford the Heck-type arylation product in a regiospecific and stereoselective manner. The developed photochemical arylation protocol showed exceptional functional group tolerance and was successfully applied in the challenging late-stage modification of natural products without any protection-deprotection procedures.

New Fe3O4@SiO2 core-shell superparamagnetic nanoparticles functionalized by a bis-salophen Schiff base Pd complex were synthesized and employed as an efficient magnetic nanocatalyst in the Heck and Sonogashira cross coupling reactions. The synthesized nanostructures were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), elemental analysis (CHN), cyclic voltammetry (CV), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis (BET), and UV-vis spectroscopy. The morphology and size of the nanoparticles were investigated by FE-SEM and TEM analyses. Furthermore, the magnetic properties of the catalyst were investigated by VSM analysis. The loading content and leaching amounts of palladium on the catalyst were measured by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analysis. Also, the thermal behavior of this magnetic heterogeneous catalyst was studied using a TGA instrument. This heterogeneous catalytic system showed a good performance in the coupling of aryl halides with alkynes (Sonogashira reaction) as well as aryl halides with alkene derivatives (Heck reaction). High to excellent yields were achieved for these C-C coupling reactions. The catalyst can be simply separated from the reaction media by an external magnet and reused for eight consecutive runs without any significant loss of activity. Finally, the kinetics of the reactions were studied in this work.

Copper (II) immobilized on L-arginine-beta-cyclodextrin-functionalized magnetite nanoparticles (nano-Fe3O4@L-arginine-CD-Cu(II)) were successfully synthesized and fully characterized using FT-IR, XRD, SEM, EDX, ICP, TGA and VSM techniques. The catalytic activity of these magnetically retrievable nanoparticles was evaluated in the direct oxidation of primary alcohols and benzyl halides to acids in neat conditions that was observed to proceed well and products were obtained in good yields. Herein, we report novel catalytic methodologies for protodecarboxylations and decarboxylative deuterations of carboxylic acids utilizing a silver-containing hybrid material as a heterogeneous noble metal catalyst. After an initial batch method development, a chemically intensified continuous flow process was established in a simple packed-bed system which enabled gram-scale protodecarboxlyations without detectable structural degradation of the catalyst. The scope and applicability of the batch and flow processes were demonstrated through decarboxylations of a diverse set of aromatic carboxylic acids. Catalytic decarboxylative deuterations were achieved on the basis of the reaction conditions developed for the protodecarboxylations using D2O as a readily available deuterium source.

BACKGROUND X-linked agammaglobulinemia is a primary immunodeficiency disease caused by gene mutations of Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK). We found a new mutation point and summarized the correlation analysis and performed a literature review. CASE SUMMARY The proband was a 5-year-old boy. He was admitted to our hospital due to a recurrent cough and a fever that had persisted for a month. He had a history of multiple respiratory infections and sinusitis. There was no immunodeficiency or recurrent infection history among his family members. Agammaglobulinemia was characterized as follows: Immunoglobulin (Ig) A, 90.0 mg/dL (90-450 mg/dL); IgG, 20.0 mg/dL (800-1800 mg/dL); and IgM, 18.0 mg/dL (60-280 mg/dL). Notably, the assessment of IgG subtypes revealed the following very low levels: Subtype 1, 0.26 g/L (3.62-12.28 g/L); subtype 2, 0.10 g/L (0.57-2.9 g/L); subtype 3, 0.009 g/L (0.129-0.789 g/L); and subtype 4, 0.003 g/L (0.013-1.446 g/L). Cellular immunological test results were as follows: CD3, 74.6% (50%-84.0%); CD4, 47.3% (27.0%-51.0%); and CD8, 24.9% (15.0%-44.0%). Ade novohemizygous deletion inBTKwas detected: c.902_c.904delAAG/p.E301del. Transcript levels of the mutantBTKwere similar to those of the wild-type gene, though overexpression resulted in markedly reduced levels of mutantBTK(9.49% +/- 1.58%), relative to the wild-typeBTK(75.8% +/- 2.98%, P < 0.01).
